KS state senator switches from Dem to Repuke

His county is the most Democratic in the state. Really dumb move. No way will he be re-elected.

Kansas Senator Chris Steineger — who was elected as a Kansas City, Kan., Democrat — announced this morning that he has joined the Republican Party.

“My views on taxing, borrowing, and spending and on the size and role of government in our society, have changed over the years and today more closely align with the Republican Party,” he wrote in a written release.

Steineger said he’s concerned that big government regulations are creeping too far into the lives of Americans.

“We must keep big government out of our lives and avoid bans or mandates regarding: guns, abortion, smoking, gambling, same sex marriage, seatbelts, motorcycle helmets, etc. I believe: ‘Personal freedom for responsible people,’” he wrote.
