5. Saigon, First and foremost, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 07:17 AM by NamVetsWeeLass
You guys didn't get a parade, You guys got jack. It overwhelms me in a sense that you are a Nam vet, It gives me hope that all is not lost on my Father's Generation. So many Dubya supporters scream over and over that "John Kerry got band-aid wounds in Nam" or my personal favorite that he "was a traitor because he protested the war when he came home." :sigh: At least the Man was there, I don't care if he got wounded eating an order of French Fries in Saigon, damnit he was THERE! Where in the hell were Dubya and Dickhead? I can assure you that they weren't in Nam. You were, John Kerry was and So was My Dad. (1rst of the 7th---Air Cav, and oddly Custer's division.)How dare they say a WORD about John Kerry's Service to this country, they weren't there, they don't know. I wanted to make sure someone thanked you is all, I guess. I know it is like some 35 years later and all, but hey, at least I am thinking of you.

As for your posts, This administration is out of control. (Yeah, I know my gift of understatement is incredible.) 1212 dead now...and the war has been "Over" for how long now? Then we have the people in this country that don't care about the body count rising! That enrages me beyond anything else. I guess I am just too much of a Bleeding heart to get it.

Ahhh, well, carry on, Dear Veteran. Thank you again.

On Edit: spaces in between paragraphs make them easier to read.

8. I'm over whelmed
I only do a small part here. And a lot of times I am misunderstood by what I call super patriots.

As a part time Veterans service officer, I have been fighting with the VA for 25 years now. It was much better under Clinton w/ Max Cleland in charge.

What disgusts me most, are the right wing, win at all costs, troop supporter, cowards, who sit at their computers and spew pro Bush bull shit. They are helping create another generation of seriously disabled veterans. It took us years in the field, to get agent orange and PTSD recognized by the VA as service connected diabilities.

A 100% disabled veteran still only gets around 2300 a month to live on.

I could go on and on.

When these freeper freaks show up here, please help me expose their silly rhetoric and anti-veteran positions

They are cowards, much like Cheny, wolfowitz and the Awol himself--- the Chimp.

I'd love them to go to a VA hospital and see a 56 year old man in his final days weighing 88 pounds, dying of terminal bladder cancer caused by agent orange. I dare them to hold his hand and say "Welcome Home Brother".

And talk to the staff and have them tell you the Chimp is planning budget cuts.

13. The Reason I am a Nurse is having to watch what my Dad
went through without being able to help him at all. Looking back 25 years at my Dad, just before he died, I realize he had PTSD in the worst way. Unable to get over it, He sought comfort at the end of a barrel of a .357. I was 8 years old, Unable to help. I could only see the far away look in his eyes. The pain there was hidden well, But you can't hide the truth from an 8 year old that had an inquisitive mind. Every year on Halloween and again in April 28, I remind myself that 34 was indeed too young to die. I reach 34 this year, and frankly I am scared to death of it. Hard to explain, But I can sum it up in two words: Survivor's Guilt.

I remember back in 1999, I was listening to the Song "landslide" by Fleetwood Mac. The live version starts out with Stevie Nicks' voice simply saying: "This is for you, Daddy." I was on my way to sign up for Nursing school. The License I have is for Dad, the reason I am a Nurse is for Dad... I don't want to have to see another person hate the fact that they are turning the age that their Dead father was when he died all because the VA said he was "fine." In 1979, there was no "PTSD" there was no "Agent Orange Poisoning" there was only a young Father of two with a gun in his hand ending the pain he was in.

Now I live with what I think is Agent Orange Poisoning. The Female children of the male Vets are the ones that get hit with this. That makes total sense, we carry more of the male's genetic traits. A few of my friends, whose Dads are also Vets have strange health issues... Chronic Hives, joint pain, Connective tissue disorders, and oddly, we are all from the guys that got exposed. I myself have been misdiagnosed with Lupus, and at one point they were convinced that I had Leukemia. I don't have either illness, but I still don't know what is wrong with me. My Fear is that I have passed this onto my son. Dad never got to see either Grandkid, but I know he is around me in spirit, always watching, always making sure that he has my back and theirs. He would be so proud of them both, and my little girl would be even more spoiled at the hands of Dad. He had a weak spot for His Girl, I can only Imagine what benefits of major spoilage my Girl would have been dealt.

He used to sing "My Girl" by the Temptations to me, now I do the same for My Girl, however it is bittersweet. He also used to sing me "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding. Man, how prophetic that song was....

Before I conclude this, my 600th post, I again want to say Thanks, from the bottom of my Heart. Not only did you fight, You made it back to us!!! You and Other Nam vets are the living reason that I am a Nurse. I know we have A few Nam era Nurses here as well, and you guys are part of the pride I carry with me everyday I put my Scrubs on, You are the REAL DEAL!!!!

7. My, God....
wasn't it just 1202 yesterday? I can't keep up any more. Where is the outrage over this? I guess we reserve our outrage over ABC's showing of some skin. Our country is too comatose to show outrage over anything worthwhile any more. What will it take?
