"Dems question Kerry's campaign nest egg" Cnn.com |
|
this is my first thread post. i believe it falls under the rules for LBN. they don't mention that this money could be being used for recounts. it reads as if he is just sitting on it for now.
"Thursday, November 18, 2004 Posted: 9:27 AM EST (1427 GMT)
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic Party leaders said Wednesday they want to know why Sen. John Kerry ended his presidential campaign with more than $15 million in the bank, money that could have helped Democratic candidates across the country.
Some said he will be pressured to give the money to Democratic campaign committees rather than save it for a potential White House bid in 2008.
"Democrats are questioning why he sat on so much money that could have helped him defeat George Bush or helped down-ballot races, many of which could have gone our way with a few more million dollars," said Donna Brazile, campaign manager for Al Gore's 2000 presidential race. some of that $$ might have made a difference for Castor in Florida and Daschle in SD--both lost by narrow margins. He also might have used some of it to be competitive in Missouri, West Virginia and Arkansas. Lot's of Monday Morning quarter backing, but it is a good question as to why he held onto so much money.

9. Is this the part where the DC Dems pile on John Kerry.... |
|
and then roll over and let Bush destroy the planet. I'm really sick of the disloyal pussies that populate this party. The guy puts himself out there, with ineffectual support from most elected Dems, now they want to tear him down.

14. My husband and I gave a lot of money to Kerry. If there is |
|
a lot left over, I'd like to know how it will be used. Same for the DNC, we gave them money and want to know where it goes. It's called holding their feet to the fire.
We very strongly supported Kerry throughout the campaign, from the time it became obvious he would win the nomination. My husband even voted for him in our primary, but I voted for Dennis Kucinich.
Kerry disappointed us by conceding before all the votes were counted.
I gave a much smaller amount of money to Dennis and have heard more from him and his campaign since the election than I have from John Kerry or the DNC. I received a long e-mail yesterday, detailing some of his plans for the future -- no talk abouit running for president again, but much desire to build the progressive Democratic movement.

17. Whoever is doing the piling on has lots of room with which to execute it. |
|
and that is not our fault, is it?
Democrats seem to be a ship in the storm, indeed the perfect storm, without a rudder.
