Fischer offers Powell Germany's ideas on Iraq
Why do I suspect that whatever he told Powell ended with the phrase "and the horse you rode in on too"?

RIVA DEL GARDA, Italy, Sept 6 (Reuters) - German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer said on Saturday that he gave U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell new German proposals for the future of Iraq on Friday night.

Powell asked France and Germany on Friday to make their own specific proposals rather than just casting editorial judgment on his new draft U.N. resolution on rebuilding Iraq.

Fischer declined to reveal Germany's proposals, saying he did not want to discuss diplomatic issues with Powell through the media.

Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said Germany was willing to help reconstruction efforts in Iraq but again ruled out any deployment of German forces to Iraq.

1. Look at this quote from the article
"The objections of France, Germany and Russia to the U.S. proposal risked reigniting the diplomatic wrangling that upset transatlantic relations before the war."

Mean ol' France, Germany, & Russia are starting a fight again. Why can't they just go along with bushco? Shame on them for upsetting transatlantic relations./sarcasm

3. They are just jealous.
Can't those countries see Bush is a beacon of light and is just trying to free the worlds population from unholy dictators?
<sarcasm off/>

Seriously I am more that a little concerned about how we are going to deal with our little dictator in 2004.

6. note the maturity of "old Europe"

"Fischer declined to reveal Germany's proposals, saying he did not want to discuss diplomatic issues with Powell through the media."

Meanwhile, Rumsfeld went around insulting our allies publicly and Chimpy put "Freedom Toast" on the menu of Air Force One.
