In a mostly serious 10-minute tribute, George W. Bush acknowledged Clinton's well-known political skills and the tireless work ethic of this "able and energetic American," but didn't stop there.

"President Clinton led our country with optimism and a great affection for the American people and that affection has been returned," Bush said. "He was an innovator, a serious student of policy and a man of great compasison. In the White House, the whole world witnessed his brilliance and his mastery of detail, his persuasive powers and his persistence."

4. He didn't sound sincere to me! His dad did, but shrub was just reading.

I listened to all the speeches. GH did sound like he wrote his own speech and meant what he said. It was reasonably kind, and expressed honor and respect for anyone who served this country as president.

Shrub however, sounded like someone else wrote the speech and he was reading it. Choppy, hesitating in the wrong places, and sort of protocol for what he had to do.

My immediate reaction was that he was trying to horn in on the attention and draw it away from Clinton.

I revised that thinking, maybe by putting him next to Clinton people will do a compare and contrast.

I couldn't decide which was better/worse. I think he's just trying to horn in on it.

that Bushco is hoping doesn't come up: Clinton is open and candid and talking about both the highs and lows of his term and isn't afraid to admit to mistakes, Bushco is the most secretive administration in history, including locking up his goobernatorial (no, I didn't spell that wrong) records, and won't admit to ever making a single mistake, blames everything bad on Clinton, but takes immediate credit for anything positive that happens, even if he actively worked against it.
