Feinstein Warns Goss Against CIA Reforms
WASHINGTON -- A Democratic senator warned CIA Director Porter Goss Thursday that his efforts to make major changes could have "a significant and negative effect on the agency."

In a letter to Goss, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., also said she feared the "politicization of our intelligence services" because of an e-mail Goss sent this week to agency employees telling them to serve the Bush administration.
..............
Feinstein, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Goss has the responsibility to minimize the difficulties that come with an overhaul. "I am concerned that recent developments run counter to that goal."

She said Goss' e-mail to employees "is likely to cause confusion at best and mislead agency employees at worst."
In the e-mail, Goss said, "We do not identify with, support or champion opposition to the administration or its policies. We provide the intelligence as we see it -- and let the facts alone speak to the policy-maker."

Feinstein wrote: "I hope that what you meant was that agency employees neither support nor oppose administration policies. But that is not what your communication said."

1. Gosh, Senator Feinstein, didn't you see this coming when you voted
to confirm Goss?

Everyone at DU did.

We knew exactly why Bu$h chose Goss.

2. And now they act all surprised.
Ha. Are our Democratic leaders just pushovers or are they really this stupid?

I'm getting really tired of telling our leaders "I told you so..."

3. Today I found myself .... reading the
intro to Hannah Arendt's "The Banality of Evil." I had to think to myself, gee golly, many of us found ourselves at this same point she did back in 1933 with the Reichtstag fire... and then I had to think to myself, and this was heavy... history is repeating itself becasue people, yes our leaders, cannot see the evil clear as day that stands before them.

But go easy on your leaders... this applies to EVERY BUSH republican that when challenged has NO CHENNEY CLUE why he or she actually voted for Bush.

This goes for the millions who are too busy living their lives and are missing the warning sigs that are jumping in front of us ALL the time.

I wonder if we are now witnesses and up for the ride, because as always, only a few are seeing teh coming nightmare

We have to still continue to work... but I have started to keep a hard record of our times... for computers may or may not survive this.

8. "Our leaders cannot see the evil.......
clear as day that stands before them."

I disagree, Nadin. Our leaders see the evil that is *, they're paralyzed with fear at what may happen if they try and fail to do something about that evil.

4. Actually, I think they counted on Kerry....

winning the election and replacing Goss on Jan. 20th. (I know I counted on this.) The Democrats didn't want to get stuck with the "obstructionists" tag by fighting Goss's nomination so close to the election.

I just knew before the election that the Democrats had something to counter the fact that the GOP, the enemy, was counting the votes. I just knew we, the Democrats, had better hackers. Who'd've thunk the party would actually believe the vote counting would be honest.

5. Feinstein has NO REASON TO COMPLAIN...she bent over to appoint Goss
Feinstein, Harmon, and all the other spineless Dems on the Senate Intelligence Committee did NOTHING to keep Goss from being appointed. For any one of them to complain is TYPICAL of the BULLSHIT WIMP-TYPE DEMs that are No Longer Welcome...

It's time for liberals that actually fight against the Repuke fascists and ACTUALLY STAND FOR THEIR CONVICTIONS.

We wouldn't be having this Goss problem, if any one of them actually did the HONORABLE thing and stood up to Repuke pressure.

7. But, if they actually fought to keep him from being appointed...
there would have been a GREATER chance of NOT having to deal with this Goss Repuke CIA purge.

Feinstein, Harmon, and others on the Committee reasoned that fighting Goss' appointment would give Repukes an issue in the 2004 election, so instead of doing the PRINCIPLED thing they moved out of the way for supposed political expediency. IT WAS A STUPID MOVE.

Repukes (led by Rove) are experts on this political "double-bind" situation. But, the double-bind only works if Dems continue to worry about their own hide and NOT WHAT'S GOOD FOR OUR PARTY and the party's ideals.

Now is NOT the time for political opportunist Dems...what do we have to lose at this point.

11. My guess is that we'd have the same problem
no matter who Bush appointed to head the CIA. This crap is coming from the White House.
