GOP Governors Cheer Coast-To-Coast Republican Control
Buoyed by President Bush's re-election and a political map with coast-to-coast Republican leaders, GOP governors gathered Thursday to cheer their electoral fortunes and discuss solving familiar fiscal problems at home.

"We can now travel from the East Coast to the West Coast without leaving Republican territory," said Gov. Bob Taft of Ohio, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, noting that 65 percent of Americans now have a Republican as the chief executive of their state.

6. Hey. My Kerry Yard Sign s Still Up
I'm in Idaho. I think even the red states are realizing that Bush is despised even more than he was earlier.

2. Gee, I didn't know that.
I remember the entire west coast going blue this last election. I still see Kerry/Edwards signs around here. Maybe we're just not considered part of america anymore.

4. It's a reference to governors only
With Schwarzenegger in California, and multiple Republicans in the Atlantic coast states, they are correct. They can go coast to coast without having to stop for a Democratic governor.

Pretty pathetic.

9. Unless he plans to cut through Canada to get to Alaska...
Although I don't think anyone would consider Canada a "red state".

5. Taft has been MIA as Governor of Ohio for his entire time in office.
Bob Taft is a totally spineless buffoon who has literally buried his head in the sand for the past six years he has been Governor, allowing Ohio to collapse into economic ruin and social ridicule. The State Supreme Court has declared our system of funding schools inadequate and unconstitutional FOUR TIMES. Taft just whined and complained that the justices needed to come up with a better answer, before retreating back into his hole. I don't know of a more inept, incompetent and uncharismatic chief state executive. He's the complete antithesis of Gov. Howard Dean who took an active, hands-on role in revitalizing Vermont. Wherever there's a problem in Ohio, you can be sure that you won't find Taft anywhere near it. Even Dubya wasn't this disgracefully bad as the Governor of Texas, and that's not saying much.

7. I suppose
... what we're witnessing overall in the U.S. now is the end of the Enlightenment.

Dare I still claim that Pi is something more than 3.14 (or, perhaps, even just 3, given the mental quality of the morons running amok)?

<sigh>

10. What's funny is that this road trip is hardly convenient
This map seems to be up to date (sort of), color Montana and New Hampshire blue, Missouri, and Indiana red:

The only way he can go cross country is by going from Nebraska to the extreme northwest corner of Missouri, and then heading south to Arkansas and then east to Georgia...

Needless to say, look for Hawai'i, California, Nevada, Arkansas, Minnesota, Florida, Ohio, and most of the norheast to turn blue in '06.

Good!

Stay OUT of Arizona! We are happily BLUE!

With partisan comments like this, sounds like our governors are going to try real hard to reach across the aisle.... :eyes:

13. scuse me!???
I agree AZ, but how is that states like NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA, AND MINNESOTA have REPUBLICAN governors, yet, states like WYOMING, OKLAHOMA, AND KANSAS have DEMOCRATIC governors??????? Texas is surrounded by Dem governors! ps - Taft BLOWS, talk about unenergizing, and apathetic to the problems of Ohio, and he let that jerk ruin the elections up there, to boot!

ODD!

18. Exactly.. The DNC needs to concentrate on Governors and SoS
It's embarrassing to have a repube governor in a democratic state.. With governors in our corner, it might actually be possible to enact some laws that would "starve the beast", and strenghten OUR position.

16. These guys spend a lot of time worrying about politics, and very little
time actually doing something, and that is very tragic.

It seems like all the GOP thinks about anymore is politics... it's almost like THEY DON'T CARE AT ALL about We, the People.
