House GOP Leader DeLay Delights in Rebuke of Accuser
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20041119/pl_nm/congress_delay_dc&e=1

A Texas congressman who brought a successful ethics complaint against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was himself rebuked by the ethics panel for violating the rules in the way he brought the complaint.

DeLay, seizing on the bipartisan committee's criticism on Friday, suggested that Democratic Rep. Chris Bell pay his legal expenses.

"If Mr. Bell is as ethical as he claims to be, then that would be the only right thing to do," DeLay, a Texas Republican, told a Capitol Hill news conference.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, fired back: "Tom DeLay proved this morning that he is not only unethical, but delusional."

Delay is such a piece of shit!!!! :grr: :grr: Time for him to GO!!! :grr:

13. I would like to think it was a Repub-dominated panel with Dem dissenters
Anybody know if this is actually the case? I think DeLay is one of the sickest, mean-spirited people in this country.

5. OK, help me understand something here. Bell gets a letter stated he
he "violated a House rule because it contained "innuendo, speculative assertions and conclusory statements." Well, duh! Isn't that what a complaint is and that why they are suppose to *investigate*?

Talk about total bullshit. I always thought you filed a complaint and that complaint was to be investigated to determine the facts.

Party of morals, my ass!

12. I got a kick out of this
"Nevertheless, we also wish to make the point to you – and, by public release of this letter, to all House Members and staff – that it is highly improper, and a basis for the initiation of disciplinary action, for any House Member or staff person to attack the integrity of this Committee or any of its members."

Ha! They assume, erroneously so, that DeLay has integrity to begin with. :eyes:

8. Dems are so pathetic that they can't even turn the public against Delay
That's saying a lot.

We lose to the worst president in recent U.S. history and we let DeLay walk all over us, all the while we continue to lose more seats everywhere.

What a pathetic fucking state the Democratic Party is in.

25. I'll tell you why the Dems can't turn the public against DeLay
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 05:45 PM by StopThePendulum
No, it's not that the Democrats are pathetic, as you allege. The real reason is that the GOP operates much like organized crime. They fix elections in a way that no one can prove fraud; they illegally redistrict; they mesmerize the public (not us) with their one-sided, libelous hatchet jobs against Democrats to the point where if a Dem points this out, he or she is falsely branded a conspiracy theorist, a liar, or worse. They turn the public agaisnt anyone who would blow the whistle on them: take this current DeLay case. They retaliate against anyone who won't toe their criminal line. No matter what the Democrats do, they can't win. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't. It's the Republicans, stupid!

Vince Bugliosi said it best, in The Betrayal of America: One can't win when the other side not only holds all the cards, but also has the morals of an alley cat. The Rethugs hold all the cards and also have the ethics of Machiavelli, and accusing Republicans of having the morals of an alley cat insults the cats.

In addition, the Rethugs are so twisted that not only do they wear their corruption like a badge of honor, but also their brutality and lawlessness is outdone only by their ability to make the public pity them.

21. wrote my rep.boozman
in response...thank you for posting that story
Today I have to say I am so upset by Tom DeLay that my blood pressure is up ! Really, could you tell me how you feel about his admonishments and the entire scandal that he is the cause of. Prosecutor Ronnie Earl has investicated and charged far more Democrats than Republicans. I have read countless newspaper articles, The Hill, seen reports and studied him for months now.
Why would the Republicans change the ethics rules to protect him ? This is not right what about the morals, the values we all here so much about ?
I will give you an example of why I am so upset...
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Texas congressman who brought a successful ethics complaint against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was himself rebuked by the ethics panel for violating the rules in the way he brought the complaint.

DeLay, seizing on the bipartisan committee's criticism on Friday, suggested that Democratic Rep. Chris Bell (news, bio, voting record) pay his legal expenses.

The House ethics ...here is the rest of story
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20041119/pl_nm/congress_delay_dc&e=1

What is happening to Congress ? There is no way that "Mr. Bell" should pay Tom DeLay's bill. Do you agree ? The comments from Mr. DeLay were the last straw, today. The people of the U.S. do not like what is going on. Be quite sure that I am not alone in my disgust at the entire situation.
Many are in complete agreement with the remarks of Nancy Pelosi and not because she is a Democratic Party member but because she spoke the truth.
Looking forward to your response on Tom DeLay actions. Does he really think he is "the federal government" ?

Sincerely,

hey I have written him so many times, he is just another DeLay just not as powerful:mad:

27. Well in response to the House protecting DeLays leadership
I certainly hope (and actually beleive that the court will do it) that Delay will be sentenced to the two years minumum jail time that the crime that he is being accused of carries. Given the recetn attempts under Texas law requiring madatory minimums, there is a chance that DeLay will do jail time if convicted.

Interesting values conservatives have, dont you think.

While they are claiming that this is a political witch humt, the prosecutor who brought the case has indicted fifteen politicians in the past on similar charges, 12 of them deomcrats.

And I still say - now more than ever - that Republicans had Wellstone murdered.
