Putin Calls for International Conference on Iraq
Russian president Vladimir Putin will tell US president George Bush that Moscow backs an international conference to help Iraqis decide the future of their country.Putin says he expects to discuss the situation in Iraq with Bush when the two meet today on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit in Santiago, Chile.

“We support holding a wide international conference, with participation of all involved parties, especially Iraq,” Putin said yesterday in a joint news conference with Chilean president Ricardo Lagos.

The international conference, Putin added, “should help to consolidate the Iraqi society and create the conditions to allow the Iraqi people freely decide on the future of their own country.”Putin did not elaborate on what else he planned to discuss with Bush.

He said his government would continue to “co-operate and talk” about the Iraqi situation with countries such as Chile which, as non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, opposed the war against Iraq.

2. Bush will never go for it
Unless he is guaranteed before hand to get everything he wants. Now that he has retained power, one way or another, he will not play nice with the international community. Putin may want to let him twist in the wind a bit, though, as a bit of payback for the U.S. support of the Afghan resistance in the 1980's. Putin is a tough one to figure out.

3. I believe Smirky
mocked Kerry for suggesting such a silly thing as a summit. Let's see if he has the balls to treat Pooty-Poot's request with such derision and sarcasm.
:boring:

4. Pootie-Poot seems to be getting
right in Bunnypants' face, doesn't he? First he announces that he's got big shiny new nukes that will penetrate Bunny's Star Wars Shield and then he takes the lead on telling The Bun how Iraq is going to be handled.

Interesting, eh?

8. mmm....
....I don't think that's Putin's intent. It probably has something to do with the oil contracts that Russia was about to finalize with Iraq prior to March 2003.
