Plane with 47 aboard crashes in N. China

Plane with 47 aboard crashes in northern China

BEIJING : A passenger plane carrying 47 people crashed Sunday in north China's Inner Mongolia region, state media and officials said, saying chances of anyone surviving were slim.

Xinhua news agency said the crash happened near Baotou, one of the largest cities in the region, just after the Shanghai-bound flight took off.

1. Very strange last line in story

"It was unclear if the 47 on board the plane included the aircraft's crew of six."

How could you not have the crew on board, or why? Did they know something was up? This sounds quite suspicious.
