Opponents of the technology gather at the Capitol and question exit-
poll data

By Heath Urie
Denver Post Staff Writer

Sunday, November 21, 2004 -

About 200 protesters and curious onlookers stood at the steps of the
state Capitol on Saturday, with protesters toting signs that read "the
machine ate my vote" and "paper ballots protect democracy."

Organizers said the presidential election results are tainted because
electronic voting machines in parts of the country were inaccurate or
biased.

"There's no reason that any reasonable person should have any
confidence in this election," said Alan Gilbert, a political science
professor at the University of Denver. "We voted on machines that were
provided by a private company and were not subject to public review.
This is a very, very serious thing."

1. Hurrah! We made it into the Post!
I was there and saw the reporter talking with Gilbert. I was happy to see the Post there since none of the TV news stations were there (save KGNU/Pacifica).

My favorite sign of the day: "Live Free of Diebold"

3. I am all over that idea.
Can you imagine the beautiful chaos would happen if no one went shopping the day after Thanksgiving? If people concentrated on friends and family instead of stuff under the tree?

Completely non-violent, and the economy would be crippled for a month. Oh, it's a beautiful dream...

6. Not shopping the day after TG is a fantastic idea! Would you
please post this idea in the DU Economic Activism Forum?

If we could get enough folks to email this idea out to all our Dem contacts ASAP, and urge those folks to email the idea to their Dem contacts, we could definitely make a strong statement against electronic voting.

7. Great Article!!!
This was a great article, and especially so since it mentioned the hereto unmentioned f-word, FRAUD. Maybe the dammed MSM will pick up on this story and get their collective heads out of their asses.

11. Great post! I expected the date to be old but it happened Sat.I'm so
pleased that the media acknowledged the protesters. If that is what it takes then when is the next protest? There are so many of us if we
name a time to march,we will see a flood that will cause a storm. If the time was mentioned every car could stop and we could present handmade signs as we stand by the side of the road wherever we are.Anyone remember hands across America? It worked?

12. I want to join up for it

Let me know when it will happen and I will take part in it.
I think any action is better then inaction. Let's give them the thumbs down on the election, the war, there are so many things to act against. Let me know, I am in.
