Reid says cooperation needed to solve problems
WASHINGTON -- Delivering the Democratic Party's weekly radio speech, Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., urged members of both political parties on Saturday to put rancor aside to solve the nation's problems.

"Americans are counting on their elected officials to be there for them, to pursue policies that will make it a little easier for them to realize their dreams," said Reid, the incoming Senate Democratic leader.

Following fiercely contested elections this fall, Reid said the parties need to work together to create jobs, preserve Social Security, win the war in Iraq, reduce consumer prices for prescription drugs and ensure public schools are preparing children.

14. With "due respect", it is not "self-hatred"...
it is the "avoidance" and "denial" of realistic possible tact to confront those who are willing to throw our democracy down the tubes; "step by step", in accordance with the "inside" the "beltway" rules!

Sincerely,
coreystone

19. I believe that quote was from gov candidate Clayton Williams
In the late 80's, who lost against Anne Richards (thankfully).

Maybe Clayton stole it from the weathercaster?

The point is well taken. And I will personally buy and mail a tube of KY to the Honorable Senator Reid.

Either you do as I say or fuck you!
Where in Gods name does Reid think he's going to get cooperation from?
Does he define cooperation as the democrats bending over and taking it gently?
What fucking planet does this guy live on?
I read the papers and the internet to and until I have heard those same words uttered by a repuke. Fuck them, make their lives miserable like they have make ours for the past 4 years.
If there is any cooperation to be made, the moderate repukes should be doing the cooperating, they are as much a dying breed as a Democrat in congress.

I don't think that's going to happen with another milque toast Dem as minority leader. A strong leader evokes trust and could give moderate R's the confidence they would need to jump or at least vote with us on important issues. Unfortunately, seems the DNC keeps repeating history. My kingdom for a leadership with a spine.

18. I got a heap of turds piled on me for criticizing reid as the speaker
Pelosi head of dems in the house. Reid head of the dems in the senate.

Honestly, I can only conclude that it was the PLAN to have kerry lose this election.

I am confused and battle-worn. I hope I am being paranoid. If I were giving the radio address, I would be inciting the public about that pork bill. I suppose Reid's vote is a Yea... or should I say, "YAY"!

31. She caves every time.
The first bad taste in my mouth she gave me was after the invasion of iraq, and the house was writing a letter of congrats to george bush about it. Moveon had the the country contacting her like crazy to tell her NOT to sign the letter, to guard against other dems signing it.

What happened?

She contacted moveon, and asked every so nicely for moveon to tell everyone to stop calling her office; she got the message loud and clear.

What happened?

She got on the floor, signed the letter, recommended that we all support the war president, and many other dems signed the letter.

A PASS for bush's illegal invasion.

That was a-moral action no. 1. Don't want to do a history on the woman. But she sucks. And she is almost as scary to look at as Katherine Harris, almost.

22. Frist, Bush et al must be laughing their heads off
I cannot even say it is funny if it were not so sad, because it is indeed sad. Take a look at the last omnibus bill passed with a rider on the abortion issue--to release hospitals who receive government grants from the obligation to provide abortion and to even provide abortion information to a woman seeking health care. Right, Boxer had to cave and it looks like a whole lot of them had to "cave", Yeah they talked a good talk and in the end the same ole, same ole.

Hillary Clinton voted yes. Keep that in mind. She is becoming too much of a belt way politician.

It included

Pork oozing out of it's hairy ears--250,000 bucks to Blueberry Hill, a Maine blueberry farmer for "renovations".??? What kind of renovations? Snowe and Collins, supposed moderates who have always run on women's rights and supposedly are pro-choice, voting yes! Collins voter for the third term abortion, so called "partial birth" abortion even though it mentions nothing aobut the health of the mother. It seems that blueberries are more important that the lives of women and their rights.

I am weary of these politics--I am weary of being jerked around by these people flush with the excitement of themselves as high and mighty "senatorial" players in this stupid game that benefits them or places like "Blueberry Hill" when children are without health care and an alarming number of them are living in poverty and when the health of women is concerned.

The system is corrupt, I am convinced.

I'm sick of complacency. We've been 'cooperating' with the right-wingers for well over twelve years now, and look at where it's gotten us. It's time to fight back.

Why don't we stop letting the right wingers dictate what we do? The Democrats problem in attracting the center isn't that we are too liberal; it is that they think we don't stand for anything. Like I have said before, being 'bipartisan' means nothing when one side gives and the other side takes.

The democrats should be outraged by this stolen election not pandering to the repucks for doing it. It is all making me sick. We need to create our own peoples party of the USA and get our own canidates of the party elected then we might stay a chance against this crap. Atleast I can say this much for Kerry, he told us to stand and to fight. Boy, big mistake to put Reid in there.
