Deployment of Kurdish troops in Mosul alarms Arabs
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/MAC153100.htm

MOSUL, Iraq, Nov 21 (Reuters) - As U.S. forces try to regain control of Iraq's third largest city, they are turning to their old allies the Kurds to keep the peace in Mosul.

That has caused resentment among some Arabs and Kurdish troops have been killed in at least one incident -- three Kurds were found shot dead in the mainly Arab city on Sunday.

In the 10 days since Sunni Arab insurgents overran parts of Mosul, looting, burning and in several cases blowing up police stations, reinforcements have been sent in from across the nearby northern Kurdish region, especially Dohuk and Arbil.

A battalion of Iraq's paramilitary National Guard has been sent in from both those towns and another could soon join them, raising the total to around 1,800 men, U.S. commanders say.

While now in National Guard uniform and answerable to the Iraqi Defence Ministry in Baghdad, most of the Kurds were until recently "peshmerga" fighters, a well-organised and feared force set up by Kurdish leaders in the mountains who, with U.S. help, fought Saddam Hussein's army to a standstill after the Gulf War.

5. Again taking a leaf from American History & da Indian Wars
The Army often used tribal enemies against an Indian Nation they wanted to eradicate or "pacify" or move someplace so whites could steal the land. The Army would find any "ole" Indian to sign a "peace treaty" it didn't matter that the Indian wasn't a member of the tribe.

For unique ideas of solving "problems" in Iraq -- the US Army only need to read its own history. For most of the history of the US -- Indian affairs were under the direct control of the Department of War. Only recently have Indian affairs been placed under the control (& mismanagement) of Department of Interior.

The blood bath which began in Falluja will spread to every urban center. In Iraq the urban centers can be turned effectively into "Reservations" and following the textbook of Indian Pacification and extermination with a distinctive Iraq twist -- the following will happen in other Iraqi cities/Reservations/Tribal enclaves.

(1) Surround the city -- a few families escape.

(2) Order people out -- but refuse to allow men of military age to leave. Arrest a few (for show) and slaughter all humans who remain in the city.

(3) Close the hospitals (they keep a death and injury count).

(4) Kill and/or control all reporters.

(5) Turn city into free fire zone -- use any chemical and/or weapon in arsenal as long as it kills lots of people.

(6) Refuse aid workers access to civilians -- claim that everyone in the city is dead.

(7) Once the city is too vile with dead bodies -- allow Iraqis in to bury the dead -- but be sure to keep a rifle or two or more trained on all the Iraqis -- live ones can be dangerous.

(8) For US media markets -- show a few "brave" soldiers feeding the now orphaned and starving women and children. Who will now have to live on the kindness of relatives or become prostitutes to feed themselves -- because fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, male cousins were deemed "men of military age and therefor insurgents and thus were killed by the US and Kurds." Be sure to get a few photos of Iraqi children being treated in US military hospitals. Don't tell US pubic that these children without legs, with guts hanging out etc. are there because the damned bombs dropped by the US military don't know the difference between innocent children and a building.

Bush -- how many DEAD people will be enough for you -- HOW MANY? More than your daddy killed in Gulf War 2 -- or more than Hitler killed?

6. Wow! Sounds like exactly what is
happening. They are doing the same thing to the Iraqi's as they did to the American Indians. I think my parents emigrated to the wrong country. We should have stayed in Poland and fought the Nazi's.

10. I gather that these were the troops used in Fallujah
The "Iraqi" troops that accompanied the U.S. marines were Peshmerga, according to another poster. Bush will leave behind a trail of civil war and misery. When Bush is done with the Kurds, he will toss them aside like an old shoe.
