Krispy Kreme shares fall on profit dip
At the end of the 2000 bull market, Krispy Kreme (KKD) was one of the hottest not-tech stocks on Wall Street, generating more heat than one of its glazed doughnuts fresh out of the fryer. How times have changed.

Monday, the stock tanked nearly 16% after the company reported its first quarterly loss (excluding discontinued operations) since going public and declined to give an outlook for the quarter or year. Meanwhile, the company is under a regulatory cloud and racking up huge costs because of an SEC investigation into its accounting practices.

17. REMEMBER ANITA BRIANT this is it Dem's its working our boycott is
working. dum de dum i'm keepin a list, checkin it twice, gonna find out whose naughty and nice. krispy is on my list. forget about krispy they are gone. a little story here about anita briant for those who don't remember. anita had a passable voice and was miss banana republic or something and did a lot of song and dance adds for the rabidly republican orange growers of florida. she hated queers and said also god hated queers and said so every chance she got. she thought they all just ought to be burned at the stake or worse. for some reason gay folks didn't cotton to anita and stopped buying orange juice from florida. and all their friends who are a loyal bunch also stoped buying orange juice from florida and guess what happened? the orange growers nearly went belly up and a lightning bolt hit them and they fired anita and distanced themselves as far as they could. and anita? she became a religeous footnote. gay folks not being a vindictive lot forgave the orange growers and they again began to blossom. well its time to check who the orange growers gave to this election. did they learn a lesson. so does anybody know?

8. I love it...
.... when yet another "fast food miracle" company comes along and all the investors go gaga.

I remember the brazen hype when KK launched a few years back. I can't eat donuts, but people whose culinary taste I like say KK donuts are anywhere from ok to crap. Definitely not the second coming of the holed confection the PR flakkers would have you believe.

Boston Chicken anyone? :)

10. bad
I live in the south and i have always thought their donuts were bad. I'm not surprised. Everyone tried it because of the hype and everyone now knows that they are bad. The south is not known for it's great food with the exception of New Orleans. They cook vegetables to kingdom come and the baked goods are just plain bad. That being said they do have good fried chicken down here.

13. southern food
Let's see I have eaten at Thelma's kithchen in downtown Atlanta, Paschals, all the famous bar B-Q places in Atl. I use to sell cash registers in GA. and have eaten at all the small towns in GA. I have eaten at the Dillard house and many small restaurants in NC. I was also a waiter for a number of years and worked at McKinnon's louisiane rest. which is an excellent knockoff of Commanders palace. It's OK food but when it comes to a true culinary experience it's a no go.

12. Their giveaways don't help either...
I've been to the local KK three times since moving here. Out of 9 donuts, they have only asked me to pay for 2. (Gave us 6 free out of the blue our first visit and got my order wrong the 2nd time - so they gave me both the wrong donut and the right donut.)

Way I see it, as long as this keeps up, I can have my donut and eat the profits of a Republican company too.

14. Hmmmm 20000
what has changed since 2000 and 20004???? Gee I guess if would be the 'leadership' of this country. Of course they did well in 2000, everyone did well under Clinton now we have a idiot heading things up. I wonder why KK gave money to the idiot when they did so well under a Democrat??? I guess they are reaping what they have sown now.

A company's stock price fell on disappointing earnings news? Yes? And? :eyes:
