Bomb found on commercial airliner in Iraq
A homemade bomb was found on a commercial airliner in Iraq, the US embassy in Baghdad said.

It said US citizens should beware of travelling on commercial carriers flying to the war-torn country.

The embassy gave no further details in its statement, adding only that "additional screening measures are being put into place at the Baghdad International Airport".

It did not say if the "improvised explosive device" was found on a plane that had just arrived in Baghdad or on one about to depart, saying only that it was found on a plane "inside Iraq".

Baghdad airport reopened for commercial flights last Monday after being shut on November 8 for security reasons before US-led forces launched a major assault on the rebel bastion of Fallujah.

5. From the AP story...
Monday November 22, 2004 11:01 PM

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A homemade bomb was found Monday on a commercial flight inside Iraq, prompting additional screening measures to go into effect at Baghdad International Airport, the U.S. Embassy said.

No further details were released and the statement did not say whether the affected flight had arrived or was preparing to depart.

``American citizens are encouraged to review their travel plans to determine whether travel on commercial carriers servicing Iraq is necessary at this time,'' the embassy said.

Commercial flights resumed to and from Baghdad on Nov. 15 after being suspended for a week under a state of emergency declared on the eve of the U.S.-led assault on the insurgent stronghold of Fallujah.

Pretty much the same story. Amazing. Who would think of a terrorist act in an Iraqi airport?
