Rocket kills five in residential Baghdad (5 injured, not killed)
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 05:55 PM by Barrett808
A rocket has slammed into a residential district in the centre of Baghdad, injuring five people including a child, witnesses say.

Heavy shooting erupted later around two hotels used by Western journalists and contractors.

The blast triggered loud explosions and send a giant cloud of black smoke rising over the eastern side of the Tigris River, which flows through the centre of the Iraqi capital.

The rocket struck the Jumhuriyah neighbourhood, according to Mohammed Salman of the government's Facility Protection Services, which guards government buildings and other sensitive installations.

Salman said five passers-by were injured, including a child who was seriously hurt.

He believed the rocket might have been fired at a city administration building located nearby.

1. Headline does not match content - (not your mistake)
There's no mention of fatalities. Hard to get good copy editors these days, I guess . . . :eyes:

2. Was this in the Green Zone?
If not, it must have been in one of the heavily protected areas nearby, judging from the story.
