Conservative Republican group urges UN's expulsion from US
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 09:45 AM by alexisfree
LOS ANGELES (AFP) - A right-wing Republican group launched a television campaign calling for the United Nations (news - web sites) to be kicked out of the United States, alleging the world body is a "safe harbor" for terrorism.
California-based Move America Forward wants the world body's New York headquarters shut down and its officials expelled from the country because it failed to support the US-led war on Iraq (news - web sites).

"The UN has become an apologist and defender of terrorist organizations and their agents," claims a 60-second commercial, which also cites the oil for food scandal involving alleged fraud in Iraqi oil sales.

The spot, which backs a "Get the UN out of the US" petition drive, claimed that "billions of dollars" intended for UN humanitarian aid was used to pay the families of "Palestinian terrorists" and to buy weapons for Iraq-based terrorists.

"It's time we sent a message to the UN: We are not going to tolerate your conduct anymore. We tell other countries not to harbour organisations that support terrorists, why then do we harbor the UN here in America?," the commercial added.

1. How about an expulsion of the US from the UN?
That sounds like a more rationale campaign to me....

12. The UN should be based when they're WELCOME
Like Paris, for instance. Do you like to be hosted at a house where the owner insults you daily for no good reason?

6. Is this true?
It should be remembered that Move America Forward was the group outed as behind the attempt to terrorize theaters into not showing Fahrenheit 9-11, and exposed as created by a GOP Public Relations firm with close ties to the Bush administration. So, this appears to be a planned move by Bush to get rid of the United Nations, since it is an obstacle to his plans for global conquest.

Start of campaign to oust UN

8. If it is true, they'll have a hard time doing it.
Technically the soil that the UN is on is international soil, not American, which would make any attempt to 'kick the UN out' not quite so straightforward. Not to say that life couldn't be made extremely difficult for those who work there and get in and out.

What a bunch of nutjobs.

14. True, but now they have a president who wants it, too
Think of what Bush could do without the UN...

The time you stop the next Hitler is before he becomes the full-blown Hitler. We shouldn't take this lightly. These guys probably have the backing of Rove and the RNC already. They control Congress, SCOTUS, and the American media. We can't assume there is a level which America won't sink below any more.

This is the same line of bullshit that the John Birch Society has been pushing for years.

16. why then do we harbor the UN here in America
Because:

a) We get lots of money from the embassies

b) We have unparallleled espionage oppotunities.

Stupid fascists. Tricks are for kids.
