Bone, organs, found near Bush compound in Maine

Bone, organs found near Bush Maine home

The Associated Press
9/7/2003, 3:35 p.m. ET

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (AP) — A woman walking along a beach about a mile from former President Bush's summer home Sunday found what appeared to be body parts on the shore, police said.

The state medical examiner will inspect the items, which include at least one bone and what appeared to be internal organs, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state Public Safety Department. He said it wasn't immediately known if they were human.

Kennebunkport police contacted the state medical examiner's office after the discovery.

McCausland said state police would not send investigators to the scene unless an examination shows the body parts are from a human. An examination was not expected before Monday.

The area where the parts were found — a rocky stretch of shore known as Colony Beach — is about a mile from the Bush compound, said Sgt. Chris Simeoni of the Kennebunkport police.

25. A second body?
This was from Friday, I believe:
KENNEBUNKPORT - Police say the body of a man has been recovered from the waters off Goose Rocks Beach. Police believe the man drowned.

The Maine Marine Patrol confirms that several of its members were involved in a search for the man, although it is not clear whether the man's body was recovered by the patrol.
/snip/
One of the man's neighbors said the victim is 63-years-old and that he left a note Thursday night saying he was going out for a walk.

Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 10:05 PM by Angel_O_Peace
this grisly find while it sits out in the elements until all can be examined on Monday? The story says the police contacted the state med. examiner, but won't send investigators unless remains prove to be human. So, am wondering if there are police watching the area? Was it cordoned off. If these are human remains, and no cops on duty over the area, then anything can happen between now and Moday. One would ASSUME the area where the remains were found is cordoned off AND is being watched, but hey...these days it's not a good idea to make assumptions.

Anyone see news footage about this?

It's like a dead one a day around here. For us, it's the only stuff on the news. Except for the ones who are killed by running into a moose-----moose are our WMD's. You come here at your own risk.

49. Medical examiners says body parts found on beach not human
KENNEBUNKPORT (AP) -- The guts that washed up on a Kennebunkport beach were not human. That's according to the Maine medical examiner's office.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland says the remains were examined Monday morning.

Investigators determined the parts came from some sort of animal, perhaps a deer or moose. He says there was no need to take the investigation any further since the remains weren't human.
