All eyes on state recount (WA Governor)
I wouldn't be asking you guys to look at this closely if I didn't think it mattered! This recount is still going on now! The Rebugs have been sending in lawyers from Wash. DC to stop the King County vote recount. My question is.... Where's the Democratic spinal Cord? Are you guys going to help us win this election or are we done as a political party?! I personally would like to know.

All eyes on state recount

By Ralph Thomas
Seattle Times Olympia bureau

Republican Dino Rossi yesterday inched further ahead of Democratic Attorney General Christine Gregoire after 24 of the state's 39 counties finished recounting ballots in Washington's closest-ever race for governor.

The statewide recount continues today and is expected to wrap up tomorrow. But both sides have hinted they might ask for another recount, possibly a hand count that could take up to two weeks to complete.

The recount is likely to hinge on the outcome of 710 so-called enhanced ballots in Democratic-leaning King County, where election workers are trying to determine the intent of voters who mismarked their ballots.

Meanwhile, the state Republican Party yesterday was dealt a setback in its effort to halt the recount in King County. The party has accused county election workers of showing a pro-Gregoire bias in their handling of contested ballots.

U.S. District Judge Ricardo Martinez yesterday told the Republicans they would have to wait until after the recount is complete for a hearing on their case.

(There's much more...)

3. you ask for help here
Give specifics. Warm bodies, protests, what do you need? The resource is here. However, if you are just venting, that's fine too. I know the Gregoire/Rossi thing is a mirror of the national mess and the Democrats are pretty darn disorganized, as per usual.

6. Not just a mirror .... not yet. Not over yet.
They have their lawyers from Washington D.C. Why should we not have ours? This recount is still going on..... Historically, the votes have changed by a few hundred votes! Our lawyers should be bitching as well! Where are they?!

5. icymist, the state party is right in the middle of this
filing countersuits, sending observers, raising money for the hand recounts - what is it we're not doing that you think we should be?

10. You are dealing with a very unique umbrella of advocates.
Independent as all get out,...unique,...rich in spirit and passion.

I really thought moveon and/or snow would funnel their energies toward a common cause that would ultimately benefit them all.

I continue to advocate for a "funnel" by which these incredible people can speak, in unison.

Geez,...I still feel so close to your,...experience. Bottom line is: if those rich in spirit and passion fail to league with one another,...they will fail. It's their choice between interdependence/independence/isolation or failure to make a difference in their own valuable, unique way.

Compassion, Compromise, Credence are steps forward.

11. Paul Berendt is being quoted nearly every day
alongside that idiot Vance - and our lawyers are there too. The state Democrats are by no means rolling over and allowing the Repugs to dictate what happens here.

By the way, we're recruiting recount donors and observers. If you're interested, I can get you the name of the person coordinating the observers.

12. Publicity. Make it known to every voter!
If common joe's vote don't count...and that there's no news on the TV for such... then why should joe care? Worse! When the Republicians show on the TV that they're going after 'fabercated democratic' votes in the recount.... why else should joe pay more attention than the latest ER rerun? Make this shit known! "Hey!! Common folks!...(*I really hate that term) You are being over-run by others who think your interesst should be sold by those who can make a profit.....

LET'S STARTS FROM THERE.

4. As a former (yet forever) Washingtonian,...this outcome MATTERS!!!
If S.N.O.W. is still operating,...get them revived!!!! They are (or at least were) a VERY powerful coalition and have a LOT of incredibly impactful members.

Also, get in touch with the Interfaith Alliance.

Most of all,...NEVER GIVE UP,...EVER!!!

9. the 'elitist federal judge' already shut them down for this recount
he legislated from the bench, the fucker! i love it!

i just don't get why a ballot clearly marked, but not filled in per the instructions should get tossed.

the intent is there. count them all.

then count them by hand.

and again and again until 2008.

13. The answer to your question is easy...
Yes, we are done as a political party. We are done as a democracy. We are done as a once great nation, and we are done as a strong economic power. But beyond that, Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
