2. Remember to login to Yahoo so your vote will count.
I don't think the vote counts if you don't login.

3. Shouldn't title be "...EARLY Recount"?
As I understand it. the judge refused to have an EARLY recount...I think there is still expected to be a recount.

I do think it is bad that they are stalling things by taking so long to certify, and it WOULD be good to do an early recount. But the title of the post is misleading.

Judge Rules for Democrats in Dispute Over Ohio Voting
By JAMES DAO and KATE ZERNIKE

Published: October 15, 2004

OLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 14 - A federal judge in Toledo ordered this state's Republican secretary of state on Thursday to count so-called provisional ballots filed in the wrong precincts, a victory for Democrats who contend such ballots are more likely to be cast by low-income and minority voters than others.

The ruling, which could prove crucial in a close election, came as partisan battles over voting rules and voter registration escalated in swing states across the nation.

In Oregon and Nevada, officials were looking into claims that a voter registration company owned by a Republican strategist had shredded Democratic forms or pressed voters to register Republican.

The decision Thursday, by Judge James G. Carr of United States District Court in Toledo, blocked a directive by J. Kenneth Blackwell, the secretary of state, that election workers not give provisional ballots to people who appear at the wrong precincts.

7. Patience.
As Randi says. He he he he...
I know stuff but can't talk.

The less noise made now, the better.

We are in a kind of holding pattern. Kind of.

As the cranky wheels of justice and the electoral college creek. We must not too soon insert our little small 'shives' to make them creek the way we want them to.

In other words; By law, the votes have to be some sort of officialized before we can have the recount.

Then, the process starts.

Volunteers are going to be needed to do the recount, when it happens.
And it looks like it will happen.

No one can give a date for the volunteers to be there for that reocount yet. And that is very frustrating. Especially if one has a job.

I would leave my warm Texas home (leaking roof as it is) to do it in a minute if someone could tell me WHEN.

But look at this site:
http://forum.therandirhodesshow.com/index.php?act=ST&f=88&t=38712

Again, as Randi says, the "Fat Lady Does Not Sing" until Juanuary, when the Fat Lady, Cheney, reads the elecoral vote in front of congress.

Until then. Perhaps we can find that Ohio actually went for Kerry!

If nothing else, maybe we'll find out how our brave troops overseas voted.

Stay tuned. It's going to get interesting.

Oh, and volunteer and still give $ if you can, those people need it.

8. Judge denies recount
(Sorry, am just learning how you do things here.

Why not email this "judge" and let him know if he wants to obstruct a free and fair vote, he has to work harder than this?

Because this will be their response. They'll try to nickel and dime this to death. Frivolous, insulting, etc. Are we ready? This won't be about people playing fair. This will be about us not letting go of the basic mechanism of our democracy, our vote.

9. Libintexas i dont agree with 'be quiet"
the more noise now, the beter.

If we stay quiet, the issue will go away.

Noise now will not end the recount in so far as i can see... it will assure that it does get moving.

Noise is even said to affect the Supreme Court in its decisions.

10. Look at the Ukrainians!
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 08:23 AM by LiberalEsto
More than 200,000 demonstrated in Lviv yesterday demanding a recount in their election.

Since there don't seem to be 200,000 Ohioans pissed enough about their election fiasco to demonstrate, maybe we can "outsource" the problem to the Ukrainians and ask them to demonstrate for an Ohio recount as well.

Oscar, you are so right!

11. Timing is everything
We are heading into Thanksgiving weekend. No one in America is paying attention. If big news breaks now it will be old by Monday and no one will even know that it happened.

As soon as OH certifies the vote, then the process can proceed. Take a deep breathe, this too will pass.
