As friends and family gathered Tuesday to bury a 20-year-old soldier killed in Iraq, word filtered home that another area man had died as a result of wounds suffered in combat last week.
Family members said U.S. Marine Sgt. Benjamin Edinger, 24, of Green Bay died Tuesday at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. He was wounded Nov. 14 in Iraq and evacuated to Germany before being flown to the United States.
Edinger, a 1999 Green Bay West High School graduate, had been improving after being wounded by a makeshift bomb , said Gerald Downey, Edinger’s maternal grandfather.
