OTTAWA -- The lawyer helping to conduct closed-door hearings at the Maher Arar inquiry said Thursday more of the story is being uncovered - and the public will eventually be told the essentials.
"We are very confident that we are getting to the bottom of this story," said Paul Cavalluzzo. <snip>
Arar, a Syrian-born Canadian citizen, was detained in New York in September 2002 as an alleged member of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network.
The Ottawa telecommunications engineer was then deported to Syria, where he says he was tortured before being set free several months later. He denies any involvement in terrorism. <snip>
