...clearing the way for new elections!

Reuters/ABC.com link

Nov 27, 2004 — KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine's parliament ruled on Saturday that a contested presidential run-off vote handing victory to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich was invalid and failed to reflect the will of voters.

Parliament passed by large majorities two points of a resolution saying the Nov. 21 poll was invalid, subject to many irregularities and failed to reflect voters' intentions.

3. Ap link: Ukraine Parliament Calls Election Invalid
The most realistic political decision, taking into account the mutual claims of massive violations, is to pronounce the elections invalid," said Lytvyn, who has tried to maintain independence in the current presidential struggle.

A parliamentary decision to invalidate the results would not be binding without the endorsement of President Leonid Kuchma, and it was unclear whether lawmakers would vote on the issue.

Meanwhile, Dutch Foreign Minister Ben Bot, speaking on behalf of the European Union (news - web sites), said that new elections were the "ideal outcome" of the standoff between Western-leaning opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko and his Russian-backed rival, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych.

7. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Don't disturb our slumber
We are happy, safer, prettier, fatter, more adaptable and generally better suited for Republican monocracy than ever.

If you rock the boat they WILL thrown you out.

Look this is simple...Just pay attention to the beat and pull on your oar.

If we are lucky some jerk will die and their will be an extra hundredth of a cup of seaweed broth for everyone.

12. You're right, although....
I don't think we will be so lucky, there will suddenly be a shortage of seaweed like the flu shots.

I just hope they have Internet services on the boat so I can email Keith O for help. :silly:

9. CNN story about rigging, audiotapes
"Analysts and authorities say the voiding and restaging of presidential elections is uncharted legal territory in Ukraine.

It is not presently clear whether the parliament or the courts have the ultimate legal authority to void the elections."

--

"Earlier in the day, officials from Yushchenko's campaign released audiotapes to reporters that they claimed proved there was fraud in the balloting.

The officials said the tapes came from law enforcement officials, and say that on them, an official with Yanukovych's party can be heard saying that they need to get into the computers because the vote counts are down and they have to increase them."
