Lawsuit Vs. Cheney and Halliburton Dismissed
DALLAS (AP) -- A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit that accused Halliburton Co. and Vice President Dick Cheney, its former chief executive, of misleading investors by changing the way the company counted revenue from construction projects, the company said Monday.

The lawsuit was filed last year by Judicial Watch, a conservative public interest group, on behalf of three small investors, who said the company tried to polish financial results by booking revenue on cost overruns before it was certain of getting paid.

In morning trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange, Halliburton shares rose 29 cents, or 1.2 percent, to $24.79.

7. He is a Clinton appointee, but you need to know the following...
...Go to:

<http://home.swbell.net/qdcg/nov.htm>

...and scroll down to:

TCBBA & TCBA Host Reception for U.S. District Judge Sam A. Lindsay (1st African-American Federal Judge in N. District of Texas)

"On November 19, 1998 TCBBA is co-hosting along with TCBA, a reception for the Honorable Sam A. Lindsay, U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District Of Texas. Judge Lindsay is the first ever African American Federal Judge to be appointed in the 119 year history of the Northern District of Texas."

<http://www.dallasbar.org/judiciary/profiles.asp?item=8>

"Lindsay was nominated by President Bill Clinton on November 8, 1997 to be a federal judge for the Northern District of Texas and was {b]unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on March 11."

If he was a Democrat, I doubt seriously that his confirmation would have been very easy. Also, you need to remember that Clinton appointed quite a few people for the bench that were conservative Republicans.

9. ...and judicial appointments matter because..........???
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 02:35 PM by SoCalDem
THIS is the slimy little underbelly of government that most people take for granted.. We have seen too many Perry Mason moments.. Judicial appointment are almost the MOST important part of government, since any one of us "could" have interaction with them.. We may never meet a congressperson, senator, or president, but we have a better chance of having "court related" interaction...

I bet most people don't even know HOW judges get to be judges..

So, people out "there", you better start paying attention.. Things that are reallllly important to you, usually make an appearance before SOME judge.. You can very easily just be "dismissed" as insignificant, too..(but them you already knew that, didn't you??)

10. Halliburton made enough money to hide prior improprieties...
...off our tax dollars of course, and in a war pushed by the administration that would be hurt if Dick Cheney were outed if it were not hidden.

They still hope to eliminate their asbestos liabilities and to recover their prospecting costs in ANWR for which our lousy energy grid is still being held hostage in an "energy" bill.
