ABC: Evangelicals to Bush: Payback Time
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=280881&page=1

Among some conservative Christians, there is a belief that President Bush received a "moral mandate" to win the recent presidential election — and they are calling on him act on their agenda now.

"I believe Our Lord elected our president and I believe he put him in office and it is my prayer that he will sustain him in office," said one woman at the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Another was asked if she believed that God intervened in the election. "Absolutely," she said.

"Values" voters delivered for the president, and the president must now deliver for them — especially in the courts, said Gary Cass, head of a grassroots political organization affiliated with Coral Ridge, called the Center for Reclaiming America.

<snip>

They believe that if their agenda is not implemented quickly — if their concerns are not addressed in a timely fashion — God will be angry.

Reminds me of the folk tale "Stone Soup": "I can make soup from a stone and water. But, you know, it would be so much better with carrots...do you have any carrots? Come to think of it, it would be better with a bit of meat..do you have meat?" and so on.

How could you say their "Jesus is only for whites and heterosexuals...amen"?

You left out rich people! I think that might be a sin.

You must never read the new 2004 bible or you'd know that. Remember the beatutudes?

Blessed are the rich in oil or money: for they can buy our country.
Blessed are the bombers: for they shall help us posses the land.
Blessed are they who mourn: we are ending the death tax.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after injustice: for they shall be new judges.
Blessed are the unmerciful: for they shall work and vote for us.
Blessed are the false hearted: for they shall lie with us.
Blessed are the warmakers: for they shall kill the children of God.
Blessed are they that commit persecution for our moneys sake, for theirs is the kingdom of hell.

12. Bush is mainly interested
in the extractive (red state) industries. Moreover, he is already moving money from scientific and intellectual (blue state) industries. How far do you think a stem cell center in Alabama would go?

Nope. Bush is all about starving Blue State industries of the future in favor of Red State industries of the past.

And if the religious fanatics will help him line his pockets, he'll be more than happy to satisfy them.

It would last about 5 minutes after they put the signs up identifying it as a stem cell research center. The fundies would torch it to the ground in the name of "Our Lord".

"Our Lord" must be holding up a sign these days saying: "Not in my name!"

9. "God's patience runs out"
Really? The Alpha and the Omega has a limited attribute? Blasphemy!

Cass wants a U.S. Supreme Court that will outlaw abortion and gay marriage. "Do you want to take your children to a National League baseball game for instance and have homosexuals showing affection to one another? I don't want my kids to see that," he said.

Goodness no! I'd much rather watch only the players slapping each others asses and spittin' chaw.

And for the epitome of anti-americanism...

Asked about the millions of Americans who are not Christian, or have a different interpretation of Christianity, Kennedy said with another laugh: "I couldn't care less. It's true."

Democratics who speak against this deserve respect. Those who shrink from identifying such people as delusional, don't yet understand the stakes.

99. Ok, to be completely fair,
Asked about the millions of Americans who are not Christian, or have a different interpretation of Christianity, Kennedy said with another laugh: "I couldn't care less. It's true."

I, and many with me, have been posting that we will no longer help people who voted for Bush. Not that I agree with this Christian fundamentalism, but I just thought for fairness' sake
I'd mention that.

Of course, that is the very difference between them and us, that we are willing to own up to what we say, and be fair. They wouldn't know fairness if it bit them. We decline to help people who enable murderers, thieves, and abusers. They decline to help worthy people because they don't have the right faith - even tho' the guy they supposedly worship told them to help anyone and everyone, even people who don't agree with them, and to turn the other cheek if someone hits them.

63. When I lived in south Florida several years ago,
Coral Ridge was not thought of very highly amongst the citizenry. They've been building their little empire -- tax free, of course -- for many years now. The Coral Ridge section of Ft. Lauderdale is fairly well-heeled (or at least it was when I lived there), so they had plenty of money to expand their influence. Not for the glory of God, mind you, but for the glory of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Predatory Christianity -- that's the way it always looked to the people living around there.

Kennedy is basically just a Pat Robertson wannabe without the polish.

105. This piece ran on ABC nightly news last week. That James Kennedy is one
smug bastard. You should see the outfit (robes) he wears. It has velvet and tons of chevrons. He is truly amazing in a creepy, psycho-fundie way.

If you ever get the chance to catch his show, The Coral Ridge Hour please watch it. It is on for an hour and he preaches from up high on a pedestal then spends the last twenty minutes of each show with a pre-taped segment on his weekly bigotry which include, prayer in public school, activist judges, ie. liberals, the homosexual agenda, pornography, you get the drift.
It is comic relief for me. I just can't believe people are willing to follow this rat.

These people are going to put incredible pressure on Bush to push an agenda that is wildly unpopular with the majority of the country and also with the money faction of the GOP, which couldn't care less about same-sex marriage and school prayer.

Bush can ignore the fundamentalists and lose a major part of his base, or he can give in to them and...lose a major part of his base.

Either way, he loses.

Barach Obama warned of the possibility of Bush either taking his "lame duck" status of not needing to win another election and being helpful to democracy and doing good deeds, or using his oft seen Messianic tendancies.

These Evangelicals and brainwashed moralists are hoping for the Messianic Bush.

Bush is becoming an Emperor with Divine powers - like Caligula.

Pretty spooky stuff. And downright un-American!

To placate these nutjobs, he has to overturn Roe vs Wade, abolish sex ed, ban gay marriage, and seem like a good Christian, while for his have-more base, he has to give enormous tax cuts, keep up with the war, and deregulate. I don't see that these are mutually exclusive.

19. old story returns to current events
"The national government will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality. Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theatre, and in the press ... in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during the past few years."

44. Somebody should make bumper stickers...
that say "Bush is the anti-Christ."

The pope thinks so, so I'm in good company when I say Bush is the devil incarnate.

No truly religious, sincere Christian person is going to think George Bush II is anything but a fake, a phony, a charlatan, in other words, a FALSE PROPHET.

The Bible speaks of false prophets -- of men/women who pretend to glorify God for their own personal gain. Simple people of faith are being duped into thinking Junior is some kind of holy man sent by God to lead us through the wilderness.

He's leading us down a garden path to nowhere but destruction of his own making, not God's.

People need to wise up and read what the Bible really says. I don't have to quote scriptures here; there are scriptures everywhere in the Bible that talk about false prophets and not just during the end times.

The end times are being used as scare tactics to control people. I'm probably older than a lot of you and do you know how many times I've heard that the "end is nigh."

I've lived through about fifty false alarms.

Don't believe it for a minute. I know so many people who have bought into the doomsday scenario I can't count them.

The end of the world will come when God damn well thinks it's time and not a moment sooner and that will probably be several million years from now.

These fundie idiots don't have a channel to God. God is probably laughing at them right now. They are ignorant souls who are frightened of life and living. They don't know how to love; they only know how to hate and judge.

Remember that Jesus was a liberal. It feels good just to say it.

Wealth and consumerism are against everything Jesus preached. He valued and supported the poor.

And think of the traditional image of Jesus. He's always pictured as a gaunt, bearded man in shabby robes. Who best fits that description today? The televangelists? I don't think so.

62. God; the joke is on the rightwingnuts.
A man was going to be drowned in a storm if he was not
saved in time before the water got too high. He was on top of his roof and prayed that God would save him.

"Dear God, it would be a miracle if you saved me!! I would stay a good man and not do harm to anyone as long as I live. God, please save me!"

Soon enough a helicopter came by,and a man yelled out " Come,
boy, get in, I can save you from drowning and bring you to dry land!".

The man replied "No, I asked God to save me and I know he will."

The helicopter sped away.

Ten minutes later a speed boat comes by and the woman says to him " Come in my speed boat, I can help you get to dry land".

Again, the man replies " No, I asked God to save me and I know he will".

Finally, a famliy comes by on their row boat and the father says
"Take this lifevest and inflatable rubber boat, you can float to dry land with this, for we have no more room for you in our row boat"

The man replies" No! I will not take that, God will save me!"

The man drowns and when he gets to heaven he sees God and says "God, how could you!! I trusted you and you did not save me!!"

God replies, "First I sent you a helicopter..."

.....

The nation cried to God, "Why didn't you help us! Where were you when we so desperately needed you! WHY did you forsake us!"

And God replied, "I never forsook you, I sent you KERRY!"

Here's a huge clue .. the New Testament reference (which I have no intention of believing) indicates that the "Tares" .ie the bad guys . get TAKEN, leaving the fresh, wholesome "Wheat". Look it up.

Their eschatology is totally screwed up.
It might just be a fear of death. IOW, they want to float on up to Jesus-land without ever having to taste of death.

In my humble opinion there is a God, who, if you believe much of the new testament is a liberal God. He/She believes in helping the poor, is against war accept in extreme cases, and helps those in need. This election demostrates the concept of free will, God gave us the brains and info we need to do what is right but also gave us the opportunity to do what we want. Shrub won because people followed their greedy side. I talked to a friend of mine who is a rw christian republican and I innocently just said she must be happy about the election. She smiled and said that yes she was happy because her taxes were not going to go up. Nothing about the moral crap that others spew.

He saved Kerry to carry out his true mission of Peace on Earth with humility and understanding to unite us in a passion of respect for others, and service to the poor and suffering . God uses people according to their gifts and abilities for their assigned purpose .

So we who do NOT follow greed, war, and false piety can follow a God of Love,A Prince of Peace, A Merciful Counselor. Jesus lead by true compassion ,kindness, and like the teachings of St. Paul spoke to every heart.

"Pastor" D. James Kennedy regularly sets aside half-hour slots on the show to discuss the "dangerous" things going on in our country (by his definition, that would be free speech, abortion, and anything with the word "gay" in it).

"Politics And Personal: A Candid Conversation With D. James Kennedy

In this DVD, produced exclusively for ministry friends, Dr. Kennedy candidly discusses the recent presidential election and what the outcome means for America. He also shares information about the critical issues facing each one of us in the coming year. In addition, you will hear some of his personal journey, including how he came to Christ and the personal struggles that have shaped his and his wife Anne's life and ministry. There is even a discussion about the Ministries' many outreaches and plans for the coming years. Dr. Kennedy wants you to have this special video when you partner with him at this critical year end with a gift of $35 or more."

123. I blog my car: Wrote MANDATE MY ASS on rear window
and a friend who is an ass, but very clever, erased the D in mandate. I wasn't paying attention to the window, as no one has tried to do anything to it until that day. I got even. His car was totally blogged when he came out to get in it in a hurry for lunch. hehehehe ELECTYLE DISFUNCTION, REPUBLICANS ARE CHEATERS, you know all the rest. He has not touched my window since and we remain friends, but argue about how incredibly stupid the other is. He will never change as he is inculcated repulsive since birth.
