'Filled with so much hate'
Anti-gay contingent draws street-side barbs

Churchgoers, motorists and others sparred verbally with members of a group that gathered Sunday morning outside several local churches to decry homosexuality.

Six representatives from Westboro Baptist Church, of Topeka, Kan., marched across sidewalks and held signs saying "God Hates Fags" and "Your Pastor Is Lying." The church group, led by the Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., claims to have conducted 20,000 anti-gay demonstrations across the nation in the past 14 years.

The local protests were organized in response to a dispute in Webb City involving a high-school student and his gay-pride T-shirts.

4. I'd like to take that guy (?) to Manhattan and let him tell some
of the New Yorkers I know that their 'sin' created 9-11 and that the city deserved what it got.

19. Which guy? Jerry Falwell? Pat Robertson?
Or Fred Phelps? </sarcasm>

They are birds of a feather, all spouting the same line. Oh, and it happens to be the same crap that Osama bin Laden spews.

Terrorists, all of 'em.

3000 people on television (though I wouldn't be surprised if they agree with the clinic bombings).

Intolerant people suck.

8. "...20,000 anti-gay demonstrations..."?
That's four demonstrations per day, every day, for 14 years. Either he's been extremely busy and over-the-top neurotic in his hatred, or he's a liar.

10. An open letter to Jerry Falwell/Bush and their ilk
Dear Rev. Falwell,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I
have learned a great deal from you and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that
Leviticus 18:22 clearly states, it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them:

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and
female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not to Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in
Exodus 21: 7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1: 9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states that he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

6. A friend of mine feels that, even though eating shellfish is an
abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality.I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there
"degrees" of abomination?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have an eye defect. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair
around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.
19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two
different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them (Lev.24:10-16)? Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws (Lev.20:14)?

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy
considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and
unchanging.

12. Did you see him on Meet the Press yesterday?
They were on a tear. I never knew men of the cloth could be so hateful. Tim Russert pointed out that the bible belt has a higher divorce rate than Massachusetts and he pointed out that the best ratings for "Desperate Housewives" is from the bible belt. Immediately the person from the Southern Baptist Convention and Jerry Falwell said things like: not my congregation , their in church at 10:00p.m., it must be the liberals that live in the south that are getting divorced etc....

15. Lol...so typical...2 things
1) When I was taking the bar exam in New Orleans (at the superdome) the southern baptist convention was there and the God Hates F people were outside picketing THE BAPTISTS (apparently, the Hatemongers thought the other Hatemongers didn't hate enough...truly bizarre).

2) My best friend (a true entreprenuer) just opened a liquor store in Tupelo, Mississippi (think Elvis!). The store is going gangbusters and is turning a nice profit even in the down months...why? The southern baptists love their crown royal and southern comfort. He says they slink into the store with their heads down and then high tail it out of there (many times at ten in the morning). Cheers!

13. Let me get this straight:
God personally selected Bush as president, even to the point of overturning the popular vote in 2000.

THEN, having selected Bush, God caused 9-11 to happen, even though we had this "Godly" leader.

Gee, God seems to be acting strangely, doesn't She?

23. wonder what god's position on Impeachment is then
Did got sanction that for Clinton even though she selected Clinton? If so then would god sanction it for Bush as well?

I've seen Falwell puke up this crap before but he always seems to forget the 8 years he did his best to undermine our appointed leader...oh wait, God only appoints Republican presidents...must be on vacation, so the devil is reigning when Democrats are on charge?

crazy world.

18. I posted this elsewhere
but these freaks are fringe of the fringe. The best thing to do is completely IGNORE them. They thrive on any attention, good or bad. In fact, they hope for lots of bad attention -- they've been known to bring lawsuits against people who oppose them. And being called names just makes them feel more persecuted, and therefore right.

They protested at my small church last year. About half a dozen Phelps family members -- half of them kids. Very sad to see that. But we just ignored them, and they disappeared within half an hour -- a little disappointed they didn't get anything going.

They're truly sick and hateful people.

22. Yes 9/11 happened b/c homosexuals.
Back when homosexuals were in the closet, nothing bad ever happened to the U.S. It's a good thing, too, because if they were out of the closet like they are now, we would have had bad things happen to us, like the WWI, WWII and the Great Depression. Good thing those never happened, all because we were more "Godly" when we hated fags. <sarcasm off>
