Families endure private war
Holly Friedrichsen was hoping for a tear--or a smile, at least--when she held aloft her 5-month-old daughter to give her husband his first glimpse of their child.

Instead, what she got was what she and other wives call the Marine Look. "There's really no emotion to it."
...
Many of these Marines are only now working through the deaths of friends whom they could not take time to truly mourn amid the demands of the fight. Some still crave the adrenaline charge of combat. And frequently, returning veterans feel unable to communicate what they endured in Iraq to those who were not there.

At the same time, their spouses and families have borne stresses of their own during a prolonged period apart. Wives have been living in a state of uncertainty and anxiety that they could lose their husbands at any moment. For those with children, spouses have spent many months as a single parent.

2. there is no reason, other than oil greed, war profit, and evil selfishness
for GWB to be causing the disruption of so many Iraqi and American families.

The television in the other room is just now playing some Christmas Carol which takes me to a memory of last year's (or was it the year before) lightning of the White House Christmas tree in Washington DC and George W. Bush sitting in the audience with his Texan Cowboy Hat.

How can he even claim that he is a christian when he is reponsible for bloodshed, massacre, selfishness unbound in sending men and women to a war which does not need to happen...

and families, here and Iraq, who are hurting...

Thank you Tab for posting a very good article which should be read by every right winger who supports bush but has no blood fighting the iraq greed for oil-blood for profit war of GWB... i wonder what justification they might still give the war after reading "Families endure private war".

4. Please rate this story a 5...
This is one of the best stories I have read about the war so far and the best I have seen in the mainstream media.

It's kind of long, but it shows how this war is tearing apart families at home.
