3. Record profits while we pay record prices
The same thing happened back in 2000. Gas prices skyrocketed and Exxon reported record profits. Can you say price gouging, boys and girls?

5. they should be required to invest that money in renewable energy
Remember "windfall profits tax".? That's what we had the last time this happened.

Back in the 70's. Things have changed.

6. Oh, goodie. Just great. Those profits should have belonged to

the workers and stockholders (again, with our ESOP plan, the workers) at my low-fare airline. We cut our costs to record lows, had record passenger boardings, but still can't profit with fuel being twice the price it should be.

The * Administration won't open the Reserves to help out the trucking and aviation industries -- in order to help out their Oil & Gas buddies!

My husband works in the freight industry - and even truckers who are getting being paid a high-sounding $1000 per day, are not clearing more than $100 per day due to the gas prices (and insurance and other overhead.)

That bonus is more than $1M per person! Aaaaarrrgggh!

I really wish someone would do a $10M prize like the X Prize, for whoever comes up with the best alternative energy invention.
