US thwarted over Iran
This latest IAEA resolution on Iran isn't the result the United States wanted. Its own intense lobbying at successive IAEA Board of Governors meetings has consistently recommended that the time had come to refer Iran to the UN Security Council.

The US argument had hinged not just on Iran current activities but also on Iran's track record of broken promises and failed deals with the international community.

The thinking in Washington: Iran is a serious threat and enough is enough.

10. No need for ground troops
If and when Iran happens, it'll mostly be by air strikes, you can gaurantee it.

4. those impertinent Europeans...ungrateful bunch of pinkos
makes me ashamed to be European. I've always suspected they're a load of ungodly, welfare-dependent commie bastards. Don't they realise that Iran is hell bent on destroying our civilisation...and furthermore...hang on, doorbell's rang. "What? Put on this jacket now? But the sleeves tie at the back...get off me, help, help..."

5. Bush is probably right about Iran...
Bush is probably right about Iran.

Why would a country with so much oil need a nuclear reactor for energy?

It would be cheaper and smarter for them to harness solar energy, if they needed alternative power. Millions of acres of hot, sandy desert, just begging to be covered with solar collectors.

So, Bush is probably right about Iran, but the rest of the world will refuse to go along with him.

All that capital he got after 9-11... well, he spent it all on Iraq.

Now, we just sit back and watch the fireworks of the Apocalypse.

6. Self-preservation.
When their bomb is a fait accompli, they'll become uninvadable. Just like North Korea.

9. Given the Bush doctrine of paranoid warfare and fearmongering,
other countries WILL want to stockpile.

North Korea has gone so far as to say the US doesn't have a monopoly on the concept OF pre-emptive strikes.

Clinton ain't totally to blame. Bush is; far more so in fact given his undiplomatic, inebriated juggernaut approach.

8. Yep
Sad isnt it. I really think Iran is a danger but we are essentially powerless to do anything about it.

7. Bush has made lots of promises too. I feel incredibly sad right now...
I feel incredibly sorry for all but some 59 million of Americans right now. Our leadership is a laughing stock, and their followers an embarrassment.

11. Somehow, this all feels familiar.
Ah, yes just change the last letter of the country.

So, um, what would be accomplished by referring Iran to the UN Security Council?

IS THIS THE *SAME* UN THAT BUSHIES KEEP BASHING?

Then WHY in the world would they refer Iran to a council within an organization that they so brazenly put down all the time?

Doesn't make any sense, does it?

And what is going to be accomplished with air strikes on Iran (I guarantee you that's the plan, my friends)? Whack THAT hornet's nest while we're still dealing with Iraq, and to a lesser extent, Afghanistan?

And how is Israel feeling about all this? Happy, I presume?

12. "Iran's track record of broken promises"
I suspect the IAEA was also thinking of our track record.

"Like virginity, credibility can only be lost once" are you listening Mr Powell
