Chambliss: Securing Iraq Could Take Years ( puke alert)
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 07:07 PM by maddezmom
~snip~

“When the people of Iraq understand what freedom is all about, they will make the commitment to destroy the terrorists themselves,” the Georgia Republican said. “But it’s not going to happen in 12 months.”
The process could take five to 10 years, he said.

Chambliss commented in a conference call with Georgia reporters after returning from a Thanksgiving week visit to Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and a military hospital in Germany.

~snip~

“One thing I think we need to move forward with is the trial of Saddam. Nothing is on the table now as to when that’s going to happen. This guy needs to be put away and the Iraqi people need to see that. A lot of people who have been Saddam loyalists think he’s coming back.”

There ya go...up to 10 years and putting Saddam on trial will fix everything. :eyes: These guys are soooo f'ing delusional.

2. He should shut his mouth. He has no right to talk about the military
Saxby Chickenhawk has no standing on these matters. I am, however, interested in hearing what Max Cleland has to say.

8. I would just settle for a prominent DEM calling him that on TV.

But they are mostly all too chicken-shit to ever have the guts to tell the truth about any Republican.

Dont ever expect national Democrats to throw down any gauntlets- that kind of fight & vigor is only for the Republicans who constantly kick our asses.

5. How freaking insulting of him to say
"when the people of Iraq understand what freedom is all about.."

It sounds like "DAMN if they would JUST drink the Kool-Aid, we could go about killing, er, I mean freeing more of them! Yeah!"

7. So can Democrats go on TV and call them all "liars" now?
Oh noooo- that would be too truthful & agressive. Lord knows we cant tell the truth about Bush & the GOP -that would be "too radical."

DEM "leaders" should just pretend it was all an "accident" and give them more free passes to grow their political capital.

Dont want to ruffle any Chickenhawk feathers, now do we.

9. And I thought they got 1200+ of them already. Here's the problem:
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 07:53 PM by HypnoToad
We invaded their country with information that was far from truthful. There is also something of a personal vendetta that * would have against Saddam. Moving Iraq oil to Euro was another factor, and the fact they have oil and we knew of peak oil in 2000 does not help.

Many Iraqis think we are the terrorists.

Many Iraqis think that some of their own are terrorists.

This is a horrendous situation the Bush administration wilfully put itself into.

I regret any troops were basically told to die for the lie. And now we're stuck there, with the UN more interested in other things.

13. If The People of Iraq Understand What Freedom Is About...
If the people of Iraq understand what freedom is about, they will realize that one of the essential elements of freedom is national autonomy and self-determination. But wait--the Iraqis already know that--as evidenced by their revolt against the British after World War One and their revolt during World War II.

I know very well that Iraq has never had a truly democratic government, but from my limited reading of Iraqi history, the Iraqis already have strong reasons to be suspicious of foreign armies' motives--as witnessed by the long British occupation of their country. Anyone who believes the Bushwah that Chambliss is slinging is ill-informed at best or an utterly clueless gullamaroon at worst.

Even if Iraq DOES develop a stable, democratic government, that government will be no friend of Washington and no friend of the US's Republican Party.

the Confederate flag--and what a sterling symbol of freedom that was and is.
