some people's reaction to one of the anti-malarial drugs is the lysis of their red blood cells. Martha would say, that is not a good thing.

Last I heard the only pill to work in that region is methlyquine, which (I know from personal experience) can cause hallucinations, nightmares, depression and anxiety. It is pretty hard for most people to tolerate more than for a short period.
