(Canadian conservative) Harper scores big meeting with Bush
OTTAWA -- Conservative Leader Stephen Harper is the winner in the meet-the-president sweepstakes.

The Opposition leader, who's role includes being ready to form a government at a moment's notice, was told Monday that he will get a private chat with George W. Bush on Tuesday. NDP Leader Jack Layton and Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe had also lobbied for private meetings with Bush. But they'll have to content themselves with a few minutes during "meet and greets" - Duceppe at a pre-dinner cocktail at the Museum of Civilization and Layton during a state dinner.

The exact size of Harper's prize was still not clear late Monday. Officials were working on how long the meeting would last, finding a suitable room in Parliament for it, and debating whether there would be a photo-op.

Harper said he would concentrate on border issues, especially mad cow and lumber irritants, in his chat with Bush, a fellow conservative.

2. Hope We Get Some Good Pics
Of Harper anointing Bush including the tongues of fire descending onto Bush.
If it doesn't work then Harper may be replaced by Doris Day.

3. It's just required protocol
for the Official Leader of the Opposition...which Harper is.

He'll probably get just long enough to say howdy, and kiss the appropriate...er...place.

4. NDP leader Jack Layton's letter to Dubya.
Open letter to President George W. Bush

Dear President Bush,

Official visits can provide opportunities for greater understanding of common concerns and diversity of thought. It is these exchanges that make such visits potentially beneficial and productive, particularly if elected representatives and citizens hear each other's point of view.

On your first official visit to Canada, it is unfortunate arrangements do not include an address to Parliament, and include only meetings with party leaders who more closely share your views. Sadly, my requests to meet with you were denied.
(Can't believe Jack really expected Dubya would deign to spend one micro second of his valuable time talking to a pinko, commie, Canadian leader of a pinko, commie, socialist party like the NDP./jc)

During Mexican President Vicente Fox's recent visit, he met with leaders of all parties in our minority Parliament. We enjoyed civilized, respectful dialogue. It is unfortunate such a dialogue will not occur now, resulting in you receiving a skewed view of Canada's values and concerns.

I share those concerns, and believe it crucial you be aware of them. Ideally, I hope your administration heeds the world's concerns and rejoins multilateral efforts on common problems. I continue to hope this is possible, but in the event it is not, hope Canada will respectfully disagree with those policies that are at odds with our values, while maintaining the valuable friendship between our countries.

6. Yeah...powerful stuff...
Do you figure Layton wants a new gig? Like head of the Human Rights paycheck, Mulroney gave Broadbent for behaving like a polite Canadian Leftist?

How many New Dems does it take to compose a letter to POTUS? just two...one to write it and one to use the word search and tell the PACs how many times the word 'common' was used...

"while maintaining the valuable friendship between our countries"...yeah right Jack...

what a f*ckin' phoney

9. I'd have liked Layton to write "Fuck you, Mr Pretzeldent,"
but that's why I'm the guy who's not the politician.

8. Harper is an unctuous Bush suck-hole
I shudder to think of the scene. He had best not overdo it, or Canadians will reject him even more thoroughly than before. Even Albertans are beginning to wake up, judging by the last provincial election.
