Kenneth Starr says he shouldn't have been involved in Lewinsky case
http://www.sacbee.com/state_wire/story/11633179p-12522663c.html

Kenneth Starr says he never should have led the investigation that resulted in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

The former independent counsel, now dean of the Pepperdine University law school, says "the most fundamental thing that could have been done differently" was for somebody else to have investigated Clinton's statements under oath denying he had an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Starr said his role in a yearslong investigation of Clinton should have focused instead on Clinton's role in the failed Arkansas land deal known as Whitewater.

"There was a sense on the part of the country that my (Lewinsky) effort was an effort somehow to expand the (Whitewater) investigation, when it was separate," he told the Santa Barbara News-Press following a speech on Wednesday.

1. Fuck you, Ken Starr
Fuck your unctuous self-righteousness and your phony dismay at what's happened to the electoral process.

I hope you die soon, of a painful, lingering illness, and that when you die, Satan will have an extra-long fork standing by with which to toast you.

Fuck you.

36. Fuck you, Ken Starr!!!! THERE. I said it, TOO.
And I meant every letter of every word in that.

The only bad part is that I can't say so to his smarmy, insipid, anemic assassin face.

I hope your karma comes back on you while I'm still around to celebrate.

Unctuous self-righteousness is the perfect description for this slimy toad.
Unless you want to call him an oleaginous scold.

I don't wish a long, lingering illness on any human...even Starr.
But somehow, somewhere bad karma will beset him.

132. Ken Starr Died and Went To Hell
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 02:11 PM by maxrandb
The Devil told him that since he was such a special case, he could choose where in hell he would spend eternity.

First the Devil took him to the "false witness" room. Here there were several Republicans that Ken Starr recognized. As they ran around the room, large rabid dogs would corner them and then slowly rip them to pieces. Then their bodies would re-form and the process would start over. This would go on for all eternity. Ken Starr said he didn't like that room.

Then the Devil took Ken Starr to the "false christian" room. Here there were several Republicans the Ken Starr recognized. Large sweaty Roman guards would beat them to within an inch of their lives. Then they were crucified, only to get up again in 3 minutes, and the whole process began again, for all eternity. Ken Starr said he didn't like that room.

Then Ken Starr asked the Devil; "excuse me, but aren't there any Democrats in hell?" The Devil said, "yes, there is only one, but to see that we need to visit the sex room".

In the middle of the "sex room" was a giant heart shaped bed, tons of sumptuous food, and beautiful music. On the bed, Bill Clinton was receiving oral sex from a woman. Ken Starr looked around and said, "I choose this room to spend eternity".

The Devil smiled and said, "very well...Monica, YOU'RE RELIEVED NOW!

4. unbelievable
This man really has no shame. He shouldn't have even been appointed to investigate Whitewater. Robert Fiske was doing a perfectly good job, discovering that there was nothing to discover. But that wasn't good enough for the fundies and now, many years too late and many millions later, Kenneth Starr still can't see that the whole damned thing was wrong!!

69. And many ruined bank accounts of Clinton employees and friends who
had to appear before the grand jurys over and over for hours...and to our heroine, Susan, who lost a year and one half of her life.

And the Resolution Trust (U.S. Govt) had already investigated Whitewater and found the Clintons clean - BEFORE Scaife wrote the first check to start bringing Clinton down.

And Starr used his law firm to concoct the ruse to trap Clinton in the cover-up lie.

59. And that's only if the SUPREMES
(The reformatted group, not the original one with DIANA ROSS) decides to play the school!!!!

Ken Starr's only hope for redemption might be to go take over Mother Teresa's work, labor in sackcloth and ashes for the rest of his days, only returning to the states to crawl through cut glass to prostrate himself before Clinton, wash his feet and beg for his forgiveness.

Ken Starr is a pig. A disgusting, political, ideological pig. How he lives with himself, I cannot understand. He's totally without shame!

when he was first offered the position at Pepperdine Law. He actually accepted the position, and announced he was going to leave, when ubermenschmucks in the Reich prevailed on him to stay. So all his posturing today is nothing but that -- the self-serving efforts of a lesser human attempting to justify his pitiful failures.

42. Ken Starr ALWAYS Intended to Meld Jones into Whitewater
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 06:08 PM by David Zephyr
The hard facts of history clearly reveal that Ken Starr schemed to meld the Paula Jones lawsuit into the Whitewater investigation.

1.) Starr had been legally and intricately involved early on in Paula Jones' lawsuit against President Bill Clinton...long before he became the Whitewater Special Prosecutor.

2.) Ken Starr actively sought out to replace Robert Fiske, the first designated Special Prosecutor and did so already tainted with his involvement with the Jones lawsuit and with knowledge of Linda Tripp's relationship with Monica Lewinsky. http://www.salon.com/news/1998/09/cov_10newsb2.html; http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/1999/02/12/senate.statements/harkin.html

3.) Ken Starr personally pitched to Attorney General Janet Reno for the expansion of his failing and costly Whitewater investigation into the Jones/Lewinsky affair. Further, Starr intentionally DID NOT MENTION to Attorney General Janet Reno that he had been involved in the Paula Jones case. http://dir.salon.com/news/1998/10/26news.html

4.) Ken Starr intentionally allowed Linda Tripp to travel out of state to participate in the Paula Jones lawsuit and to divulge information to Jones' attorneys while he had prohibited EVERY other witness from speaking out at all...to establish a perjury trap for President Clinton.

5. Ken Starr now actually expects to whitewash his sinister role in American History with his laughable statement of "there was a sense on the part of the country that my (Lewinsky) effort was an effort somehow to expand the (Whitewater) investigation, when it was separate."

Poor Kenny Ken! He'll just never be able to rewrite the past which will forever cast him correctly as one of the most perverted and sick wackos in American judicial history...as the man who ordered the rifling of the First Lady's underwear drawer in the White House.

44. NO sh__ Sherlock! Starr has some nerve. We all know
(and we knew then too) that they were NOT separate investigations and the investigation had no integrity despite his defense.

"Starr, however, defended the integrity of the investigation."

I find this sentence from the article really interesting:

"It reinforced the proposition that all of us are subject to the law, no matter how high our station," he said. "The facts are the facts."

Hmm. The facts are the facts and we are all subject to the law no matter what our station, really? Then why are Bush and DeLay still in office?

Pepperdine is a Christian university and is not liberal, I'm sad to say! (although there are some liberal students, of course)

Also, Ken Starr is the reason I decided not to apply to law school there, even though it would have been super convenient. I live very close by.

You changed the rules, Starr. Until you came into the picture, a president's personal life was off-limits. You opened a door that will lead to your own kind getting the same treatment. The tide will turn. Little by little, Republicans will be forced to play by the same rules.

107. Karmic consequences
As evil and despicable as Ken Starr is, as are all the right-wingnuts that are his associates and partners-in-crime, I believe the saddest aspect is what his sliming of the decency, privacy and dignity of public office has ultimately led to.

Imagine what might have happened had this lunatic zealot not paralyzed an entire nation with his revolting sexual witch-hunt. Here are some of the distinct possibilities:

(1) Clinton would not have been needlessly hounded by these rabid dogs, thereby becoming more free to pursue necessary actions in the international arena.

(2) As a result of (1), chances are Clinton would have already tracked down the events and principals behind 9-11-2001, and neutralized the tragedy that was enabled by the Mafia of 2000.

(3) Clinton's ratings would be in the stratosphere, and Jerry Falwell's in the lowest depths of the netherworld. Thereby, the fundamentalist hoodlums would have remained buried in their dark caves.

(4) Riding Clinton's massive popularity, Al Gore would be a shoo-in as his successor.

(5) The Abominable Chimpman would remain the Crawford Cretin, and never be known to civilized people the world over, except for his own pathetic mafioso circle.

(6) Thousands of innocent lives would not be needlessly sacrificed at the altar of corporate greed, hatred, racism, fanaticism, and right-wing zealotry.

(7) There would be peace and prosperity in the world, and goodwill among human beings everywhere.

And so on and on.

A single Ken Starr has thus changed the world so much for the worse.

122. Someone please enlighten me - SERIOUSLY
I was under a big cozy rock during the whole Ken Starr debacle, believe it or not, so I'm playing catch-up (and being retro-actively appalled)...so can someone answer a basic question I still have unanswered??:

How is it possible that Ken Starr had the authority/right/jurisdiction/directive/whatever to EVER grill ANY elected official about their personal, sexual behavior????
I'm not asking "why would the RW do this?" - their motives are pretty clear...I can't figure out, under what LEGAL definition they were able to justify these questions to begin with. And why it was an IMPEACHABLE scandel that Clinton lied about it? Is it ILLEGAL for the Prez to have an affair?? Sheesh. What was their (public face) justification? Please!

I know I'm asking for sensible, rational answers with something that doesn't seem to have either, but...*sigh* I just can't put my brain around how this particular witch-hunt was justified, legally...

Thanks in advance to any brave soul....

124. They couched the whole thing in the catchphrase "lying under oath"
They kept saying it wasn't about sex. It was. Impeachment can be whatever the majority party wants it to be, and in Clinton's case, the Repukes made it about lying about sex in a frivolous lawsuit that was eventually thrown out.

133. Let me get this straight...
Clinton lied about having a sexual episode (or two or..) with Lewinsky - during testimony for Whitewater?? When he was caught out with that lie, they pursued it as a separate issue of lying under oath?? Even tho' it had nothing to do with his job as President...They had the balls to pursue this, "for the public good"? Am I getting this bizarro scenario?

Not a news flash, for non-rock dwelling folks, but what an abuse.

Somebody better tell BushCo. its illegal to lie (Oh! Only under oath. And if your a Democrat.)

What we put up with here in "Freedom Central"...

139. The testimony was in the Paula Jones lawsuit
which was thrown out. Starr continued to pursue the case even after the Jones suit was tossed.

You're correct: It had nothing to do with his job as president.

He's a boob and we all know it. White water was a joke, and the only reason he's saying that is to revamp the issue.

Repentance is all very well and good, but we paid for this and wasted time on it. Can you think of the things that might have been funded or the tasks that might have gotten done if the Congress, the executive branch, and the clowns in the news media hadn't been occupied with this?

To perdition with this ethically challenged being. To perdition with him.

141. So why did you do it?
Hey Ken Starr, I HOPE YOU ROT IN HELL.

However, I am willing to let this slide, if you can convince the GAO you want to be the Independent Counsel for all the crap Bush did in his first term and how he stole the election. And you are some how able to do it, I want you to investigate Bush just like you did Clinton and convince Congress to Impeach the Rat Bastard. Can you do that Starr?

If not, BURN IN HELL.

Hey Karl Rove, nice diversion tactic, but guess what, it won't work. WE ARE STILL WANT A RECOUNT IN OHIO.

Funny how this story comes out as the walls are starting to close in on BushCo. HAHAHA nice try.

Yeah here is my other rant on Ken Starr, FUCK YOU, you ruined a great president's rep. So I hope your death is painful and I hope it lingers for same number of years you investigated Clinton so that way you will be able to suffer each painful year.

Back to you Karl Rove. My rant is done. Guess what, it won't stop us from vocalizing an OHIO RECOUNT.

The difference between comedy and tragedy:

* If I cut my finger, that's tragedy.

* If Ken Starr trips, falls into a manhole, and lands into a running woodchipper, that's comedy.

160. Who cares if a President gets a BJ in the Oval Office
I don't and I can't understand what the big deal is if a sitting President gets a little comfort from a legal adult giving him or her oral or whatever else they agree upon.

Why were one or more orgasms such a big deal in the house that he earned the right to live and love in? Apparently Hillary had no big issue with it so why not just let it drop?
