Car bombings, other attacks kill nearly 40 in Iraq |
|
~snip~ MOSUL, Iraq (AFP) - A wave of attacks that included car bombings here and in Baghdad have left nearly 40 people dead in Iraq, exacerbating fears that violence could derail Iraq's January elections.
Against that backdrop, the special advisor on Iraq to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was quoted as saying the current climate of insecurity makes holding elections impossible.
~snip~ Expressing his personal views, Brahimi appealed to the international community for help in bringing order to the country.
He also criticized the United States for invading the country in March 2003, which he said had created more problems than it had solved.

1. It has only just begun |

We are going to endure more and more horrific acts and a mounting death toll. Here at home we will mourn the deaths of our young men and women while the insidious termites prattle on about how awful are these Moslems, further dividing our already woefully divided nation.
It is going to take great strength and courage to endure and resist, once again. But ,in the end, Bush and his fanaticism will pass, and we will begin to heal. I know this because I have great faith in the people of these United States, because we are a compassionate people at heart and because our ranks will grow and we will take this fight to the streets of America, of London, of Paris and of Berlin, millions of us will march and our government will tremble and weaken before us.
All power resides with the people and we will reclaim that power.Someday we we all live together in peace, or we will drive ourselves to extinction.
