2. Makes me wish
that part of the country (DC) would just fall into the Atlantic, never to be heard from again.

5. They're making up for all of us who can't afford Christmas
Fact Sheet: White House Holiday Decorations

Volunteers 51

Garland 660 feet

Christmas Trees 41 trees

Wreaths 245

Bows 221

Lights 155,500 (total throughout complex)

Blue Room Tree

Lights 32,500

Balls 390 - Um, don't they mean "ornaments"?

Instrument ornaments 350

Guests touring the White House during the Holidays: 44,000

Guests attending receptions during the Holidays: 6,500

I wonder what this is costing the U.S. taxpayers. You can bet it's a lot more than the cost of a recount in Ohio.

:grr:

14. Why don't they list the total cost!
Perhaps taxpayer money could be put to better use considering the state of our nation and the ongoing occupation of Iraq.

9. Maybe she ordered a servant to do it.
In rich Republican speak ordering the servant to do something is the same thing as doing it yourself.

It seems like they can't help themselves anymore - they lie even when it doesn't make a lick of sense to do so.

It is going after Pickles! In the movie, they had better taste - nothing less than Rachel Welsh would do.

12. Of course the White House has to be all decorated for Christmas.
They do it because ... I forget now.

Oh, yes, I remember now. They do it because it's The Rich People's House.

13. I guess it's just me
but if I were living in the White House at this time, I'd tell people we decided to scale down dramatically to honor those who are serving and dying in Iraq and those who cannot afford to do as much at Christmas.

But if bush said that, he'd be ackowledging his part in the bad economy and if I were president I'd be doing everything in my power to HELP the American people.

the Christmas decorations: good taste.

25. Gotta kick this in order to share that horrid tree pic w/the morning crew
I guess the WH was going for a snow look on that tree, but they failed miserably. Here in Michigan, I have a yard full of enormous blue spruces. When it snows, my trees don't remotely look snot-covered. The monstrosity that Dime Bag Laura is standing in front of is like something out of the nightmare before Christmas. Yecccchhh!

27. These people have no taste whatsoever.....
Whatever happened to the days of Jack and Jackie Kennedy - people who were cultured and had exquisite taste and brought culture to the American people and the White House? Now we have the Clampetts living there and we're all supposed to jump on the Nascar bandwagon. I have too much self-respect to lower myself to that level.

Let's bring back some dignity to this country, can we?
