ROS-LEHTINEN EARNS A PH.D
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/local/10348242.htm
She's now U.S. Rep. Dr . Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, thank you very much.

After 14 years of taking a course here and a course there -- and, she admits, sometimes studying her textbooks while on the floor of Congress -- Ros-Lehtinen, R-Miami, has earned a doctorate in education from the University of Miami.

More repug values.

1. She's a reactionary...
....shill for the gusanos, but I say more power to her.

She's got colleagues on both sides of the aisle who have done worse on our nickel, including schtupping the help, maintaining private practices in law, wrecking their livers, etc. etc.

4. more power to her?
OhhhhhKay

If I had studied on the clock of my prior jobs I would be threatened or fired.

Her colleagues on both sides of the aisle have done worse so this is OK? :eyes:

2. i will not register to read the miami-herald, so i've not read the article
on ros-lehtinen. I seem to recall that the degree she was going for was a degree in early childhood education. AS SUCH, and because she stood for keeping ELIAN GONZALEZ AWAY FROM HIS FATHER AT A TIME WHEN HE NEEDED HIS FATHER TO BEGING GRIEVING THE DEATH OF HIS MOTHER, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen should have been flunked out of the program all together!

I went for another degree and I didn't even have the time to weed the garden.

6. Give the woman a break. Now that Congress officially votes
on bills without reading them, what's a person to do? Knit? Make passes at fellow goobers while sitting there bored silly, like one infamous Congresswoman from Florida, whose name shall not be mentioned for fear it might be mistaken for an incantation calling forth the devil?
No, just see this as sort of compensation for the Pell grants which are being cut. Give the poor working girl a chance. It's hard to scrape along on the salary she's making.

She could assign them to do the research and get the materials. You would be amazed at how many large firms have librarians on staff. They provide research to help the employees with their work and their studies!

If someone else does research, the typing, editing and the bibliography, the project becomes a lot easier to complete.

21. So, she's one of those kind of students which UCF is trying to faze out?
They claim that students who take more than four years to graduate are a drain on school resources. I guess that makes Iliana a bit of a deadbeat.

22. There once was a limit on the years to complete
when I was at Texas A+M the rule was any course work older than 8 years became obsolete. Also once you took prelims there was a limited time to complete the dissertation...which generally was avoided by putting off "pre"liminary exams until the dissertation project was in the bag.

14 years would have been a long time. Even for an Aggie!

She helped Jeb get elected by trading Cuban-American votes for the Bush I parole of Cuban terrorist Orlando Bosch -- a man with a rap sheet longer than yer arm. She and her husband ought to be in prison.

I have a friend who says that some people are "educated beyond their intelligence". I think it fits in Idiota Ros-Lehtinen's case.

15. Good point. Anyone who capitalizes on emotionalism and dissention
rather than simple good will and the TRUTH is basically stupid, sly, and eventually doomed to failure. It's not a good foundation for a career or for a life.

As soon as that embargo's lifted, and the travel ban, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Lincoln and Mario Diaz Balart, as well as Senator Mel Martinez will all be screwed.

Diaz-Balarts, and Ros-Lehtinen surrounding
one of their favorite stooges, Dan Burton.
Robert Menendez is probably behind Burton.

19. Sounds like her university has piss-poor standards for Ed.D.
Don't most universities have limitations on how long a person can be a candidate for a graduate degree?
