Kirkuk without water after sabotage blast on Iraqi power line
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20030909/wl_mideast_afp/iraq_electricity_blast&cid=1514&ncid=1473

KIRKUK, Iraq (AFP) - Saboteurs set off an explosion at a major electricity line serving a water pumping station in northern Iraq, leaving the city of Kirkuk without drinking water, a local official said.

"Unknown people blew up a high voltage line at 3:00 pm (1100 GMT), 15 kilometers (nine miles) south of Kirkuk, using an explosive charge," said Abdel Rahman Zenkaneh, head of the city water authority.

Zenkaneh said residents in Kirkuk, which is located 250 kilometres north of the capital Baghdad, would be deprived of drinking water for at least three days.

Electricity to Kirkuk's industrial zone, 10 kilometers (six miles) south of town, was also cut, he added. He did not say when it would be restored.

2. $87 billion more down a black hole....
the terrorists can destroy with great
efficiency and on the cheap. They can
do it faster, easier, cheaper, and with
far more dedication than we can ever
build and repair things.

AWOL and his regime did not factor this
into their stupid, shortsighted, plans.

Then between meals, naps and blowing
up infrastructure they will pick off
our soldiers just for the sport of it.

3. You know, every couple of years in Alaska
some drunk with a rifle pops a cap into the Trans-Alaska pipeline and brings all oil flow to a halt for days while the pipe is fixed and the mess cleaned up.

I repeat: One guy, with one high-powered rifle, can damage a major pipeline, stopping oil flow (at least temporarily).

Now imagine you've got a country full of guys with AKs and bombs, guys who worked in the industry and know which pipes are the "hot" ones, guys who are pissed off at us, at their rivals, at just about anything and everything. Remember, they don't have to be experts, they could be the oil industry equivalent of Homer Simpson. Homer may not know about isotopes or control rods or an "unrequested fission surplus", but he knows if Pipe X is damaged, bad things happen. So do these guys.

Yep. NO ONE could have seen this coming...

1 in northern iraq -- pipline

1 in jerusalem -- cafe hillel
1 in central israel -- Tsrifim military base

5. Do you know if the one outside the office in Erbil is the one
that knocked out the water? I'm pretty sure on Monday they blew up another oil pipeline.
