WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- J. Steven Griles, the number two man at the Department of Interior, submitted a letter of resignation Tuesday. Griles was nominated to the position of deputy secretary by President Bush in 2001. Griles said he hopes to return to the private sector by the end of January or sooner if a replacement is confirmed.
