He says pre-election violence in Iraq expected to escalate
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/military/20041207-2229-bush-staff.html

CAMP PENDLETON – President Bush braced Marines Tuesday for escalating violence leading up to the Jan. 30 elections in Iraq, but vowed the vote would not be postponed.

"The terrorists will do all they can to delay and disrupt free elections in Iraq and they will fail," the president told more than 7,000 troops gathered on a football field.

Bush made a one-day, cross-country round trip to meet with Marines and families at Camp Pendleton, which has suffered by far the greatest casualty toll of any U.S. military base in the war in Iraq.

1. At first glance, I thought he meant the ELECTIONS
would fail. Then I realized he was talking about the terrorists. Er.

2. He didn't mention the expected escalating post-election violence in Iraq.
After Allawi gets elected in a free and open election.

4. And then...
we'll be told to expect escalating violence in the run-up to the new government being sworn in.

5. So what constitutes success? "Look everyone! We've got almost 10% turnout!
Isn't that super? Wow, what a mandate!" :eyes:

6. And what bullshit excuse will bushit use when the carnage continues AFTER
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 03:09 AM by LynnTheDem
the "elections"?

AFTER invasion all would be peachy.

AFTER capturing Hussein all would be peachy.

AFTER fake handover of "sovereignty" all would be peachy.

AFTER the "elections" during war all will be peachy.

And bushit has been correct SO VERY OFTEN. :eyes:

8. I believe him. He's been right every other time he said it would escalate
He's been a little off on the violence ever abating, of course, but it has escalated each time he said it would. Not that that's a hard prediction to make.
