Zell Miller To Head To Lawfirm
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 06:01 PM by Tab
Retiring Senator Zell Miller, a teacher not a lawyer, will join the government affairs practice of one of his home state's major law firms when he leaves his Senate position early next year.

According to a statement from the firm, his employer to be, McKenna Long And Aldridge, provides expertise to clients in such areas as tax policy, international trade, homeland security, health policy and higher education.

Miller will work from the firm's Washington and Atlanta offices.

He had a hard time today describing exactly what his duties will be. Miller said -- quote -- "I haven't been able to talk to anybody very concretely because of the rules of the Senate."

But, he insisted, one thing he won't be is a lobbyist.

Miller said -- quote -- "I'm not going to be walking any halls of the Capitol or taking any folks out for a steak dinner."

3. May the "Honorable" Mr. Miller...
Soon become the poster boy for The International Prolapsed Colon Association and drag 12 feet of flyblown lower intestine behind him, for the rest of the days.

That is just for starters.

5. Further in the article
it says:

Miller, a one-time college history professor, was Georgia's governor from 1991 to 1999. He was tapped in 2000 to fill the unexpired term of the late Senator Paul Coverdell and elected the same year to the balance of the term. He did not seek re-election.

I had not realized he was not elected to the Senate at all.

Explains a lot.

9. That's not true. He was elected to the Senate.
I can't do much history here, but I moved to Ga. in July of 2000. I voted for Zell in Nov. BECAUSE he wa the Dem on the ticket. I haden't been here long enough to know Ga politics, but I'd bet my vote would have been the same. All the Dems I've met since said Zell changed when he went to Wash. They all detest him, as do I.

18. No, not Buckhead - here is his profile

http://www.wcsr.com/level3_shell.asp?level1Id=2&level2Id=1&id=260

Among other useful things (such as working to disbar Clinton) he once successfully defended a prison warden who used a Taser on a 6-months pregnant inmate.

Alford v. Osei-Kwasi, 203 Ga.App. 716, 418 S.E.2d 79 (1992). Successfully defended jail officer who used a taser on a six month pregnant inmate

17. McKenna, Long, and Aldridge has a history of supporting racsist....
policies.

(While there is NO evidence of this, spread the rumor as a way of "putting" these scumbags in their place for hiring Zell "Dick Russell' Miller. The Republican noise machine does this all the time and I say we do the same back to them!)

Besides, they just hired Zell Miller; a "man" who has a history of opposing Civil Rights.

20. Oh, and this little gem
Oh, and this little gem from his official website at http://miller.senate.gov/bfb.htm

In January 1998, then-Gov. Zell Miller went to the Georgia Legislature armed with a tape player and a new idea.

Miller told lawmakers he wanted $105,000 to pay for a CD of classical music that would be distributed to parents of newborns across Georgia. Miller cited early childhood research touting the benefits of music in developing babies' brains and the link between music and math.

To hit home his point, Miller pulled out his tape player and let lawmakers listen to a few minutes of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."

"Now don't you feel smarter already? Smart enough to vote for this budget item, I hope," Miller told them.
