Officer Alleges CIA Retaliation (alleges told to falsify WMD info)

Lawsuit Says Agency Urged False Reporting on Iraqi Arms

By Dana Priest
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, December 9, 2004; Page A02

A senior CIA operative who handled sensitive informants in Iraq asserts that CIA managers asked him to falsify his reporting on weapons of mass destruction and retaliated against him after he refused.

The operative, who remains under cover, asserts in a lawsuit made public yesterday that a co-worker warned him in 2001 "that CIA management planned to 'get him' for his role in reporting intelligence contrary to official CIA dogma."

The subject of that reporting has been blacked out by the CIA, and the word "Iraq" does not appear in the heavily redacted version of the legal complaint, but the remaining language and context make clear that the officer's work related to prewar intelligence on Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction.

In the lawsuit, the officer asserts that CIA managers retaliated against him for refusing their demands by beginning a counterintelligence investigation of allegations that he had sex with a female asset and by initiating an inspector general's investigation into allegations that he stole money meant to be used to pay human assets.

4. And that was PRE-purge.
Look where they're going for resolution!

In a letter to CIA acting general counsel John Rizzo dated Dec. 6, Krieger requested a meeting between the officer and CIA Director Porter J. Goss because of "the serious nature of the allegations in this case, including deliberately misleading the President on intelligence concerning weapons of mass destruction."

7. I would bet...
his report was left out of the IE report sent to the Senate Intelligence Committee before the war.

I doubt very seriously that Bush was fooled by agency managers. It was he and Cheney who pressured the CIA to change their position. I believe it was Congress they were trying to fool.

14. The NIE report NEVER said what bush & Cartel said
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 06:03 AM by LynnTheDem
NEVER.

The October 2002 NIE said Iraq WAS NOT a threat. TENET HIMSELF testified that Iraq was NOT a threat.

It had DISSENTING OPINIONS from the TOP EXPERTS on each & every issue; the USAF, for example, said Iraq DID NOT have the UAVs bush went on & on about. The top US experts on centrifuges, the DoE, said the aluminum tubes were NOT for nukes but only for conventional rockets.

ETC ETC ETC.

What BUSH & CARTEL said DID NOT MATCH with what the NIE said.

And that's a FACT. (rightwingnuts HATE facts)

Edit to add a VIP bit that I've not yet seen reported on:

BUSH & CARTEL STATED AS FACTS all their bullshit on Iraq's WMD BEFORE THERE WAS AN NIE PRODUCED. It was only AFTER bush & his Cartel were lying their asses off about WMD that Congress asked to see the NIE...and bushCartel THEN ordered the CIA to produce one.

Maybe God told bush.

"No biological or chemical weapons have been found in Iraq. A subsequent CIA-led investigation found that Iraq was nowhere near producing a nuclear weapon, as the administration had asserted."

Yes of course we all knew this as OFFICIAL over a year ago, and most of us knew unofficially before bush's war of aggression; but I wonder how many more times this info will appear on just about EVERY media article about Iraq BEFORE the 60% bush supporters who think Iraq had WMD and that we've found WMD, finally get it; NO WMD IN IRAQ FOR OVER A DECADE.

bush was WRONG. (lied)

Hussein was CORRECT. (told the truth)

And WE are the war criminals. Ain't that one for the books.

22. So when will the time come
that all these lawsuits, people whistle blowing, and speaking up ever fall back on highlighting the Bush administration's lies, bully tactics, and misleading of our nation and its peoples that has resulted in a war responsible for the loss of tens of thousands of lives, including the now almost 1300 of our troops?

Am not surprised over the article posted for this thread, but am again outraged that our nation moves closer and closer to a fascist state. Seems no matter what is said and done that receives media recognition, nothing changes regarding the Bush bullshit. These thugs have become the new Untouchables. Where or when will we see their Achilles' heel? Ever?

eh-- not so much.

bushco is looking to make changes that even an incoming democrat president couldn't change -- wingnuts planted so deep in the security information systems that no body could root them all out.

and they've got 4 years to work on it.

20. Is this some kind of set up?
Back in 2001, this individual who worked with sensitive informants INSIDE Iraq failed to report on WMDs consistent with CIA dogma?

Hmmmmm.
