General: Fallujah Almost Cleared of Arms
~snip~

Marines have collected 450 bodies in the city, Sattler said. Although foreign fighters were believed to be among them, most were so badly decomposed it was impossible to determine their identities.

Of about 2,000 people initially detained, 58 were foreigners, Sattler said, without providing details of their nationalities.

~snip~

Resettlement will take place district by district, beginning with the northern half of Fallujah. Five checkpoints have been set up as only entrances into Fallujah, with the roads south of the city blocked by sand berms.

All men of military age will be processed using a central database. They will be photographed, fingerprinted and have their iris scans taken before being issued ID cards, Sattler said. The entire process should take about 10 minutes per person, he added.

How about the three hour queue before the 10 minutes of actual "work"?

10. Provisions for combating biased foreign media coverage of the U.S.
From the 9/11 intelligence reform bill.

Yep, nothing biased here.

So, if everything's hunky dory why did we force the Red Crescent
out. Oh, and leave the supplies. I bet the USans
took everything. They need it.

IRR 120804

Resistance mounts attacks throughout al-Fallujah
on Wednesday.

Fighting broke out in most neighborhoods of al-Fallujah
on Wednesday morning and was still under way when
the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent filed his report posted
at 9:20pm Wednesday night Mecca time (10:20pm local
time).

According to eyewitness accounts, the fighting erupted
in ash-Shuhada’, al-Jawlan, an-Nazal, ash-Shurtah, ad-
Dubbat, al-Mu‘allimin, al-Jaghifi, and al-
Jumhuriyah neighborhoods as well as the industrial
zone.

The correspondent reported that light arms, mortars, and
RPG8, RPG7 rocket launchers and BKC machine guns
are being used by the Resistance, who surprised US forces
with their attacks, which brought back memories of the
fierce fighting of the first days of the US assault on the
city.

The attacks are seen as a message from the Resistance
that they still retain their power and combat ability to battle the
US forces in any of the city’s neighborhoods. The fiercest
fighting was reported in the al-Jawlan
neighborhood.

12. About that fighting in Ramadi-update from IRR
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 10:24 AM by jmcgowanjm
where witnesses said a U.S. armored vehicle was in flames
and smoke rose from an American base that was hit by a
mortar.
Fighting spread from the center of the city to the industrial zone
in the east after a suicide bomber attacked a U.S.
military checkpoint and clashes killed two Iraqi
civilians.

There were no immediate reports of U.S. casualties.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1054025

Not so immediate report of US Casualties:

Martyrdom car bomb attack leaves seven US troops dead.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted car bomb attack
in al-Khashshaniyah, north of ar-Ramadi at midday
Wednesday. A martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden
car towards a US column that was halted at a puppet
police station in the city. Witnesses reported that as the car
drove towards the Americans at a speed that reached 120km
per hour, the driver began shooting at the American
troops.

The attack destroyed a Bradley armored vehicle and a
Humvee and killed at least seven US troops. Residents
were amazed to find the body of the Resistance
martyrdom fighter blown 200 meters from the scene of
the attack, where the mangled bodies of the Americans still
lay.

I guess when the new 911 intel bill is signed into
law they'll be comin' to get me for publishing biased
foreign media coverage of the US.

But at least, unlike Kerry and the DNC, I'll go down fighting,
so bring a GDArmy when you come.

It's not like the insurgents left them behind.

Once again Military Intelligence is proven to be an oxymoron.

16. woman & children not to return until Fallujah "completely safe"
~snip~

Women and children will not be allowed to return until the city 40 miles west of Baghdad is "completely safe," said Rear Adm. Raymond Alexander, of the 1st Naval Construction Division, whose troops are part of military efforts to rebuild Fallujah.

"It would be terrible for us to have Mr. and Mrs. Iraqi back in the city and they go into the house and 'boom' — there is a booby trap in there," Alexander said.

Government and Marine civil affairs teams will be in place to process damage claims, he said.

"Their house may be completely gone, so they will have to make a decision whether they want to rebuild or just take that check," Alexander said.

17. What? No weapons? What does the NRA think about that?
Don't Iraqi's have the right to bear arms? How will they protect their families from criminals who might have guns? After all, law-breakers will always be able to get guns, so law-abiding Iraqis should have that right too. Plus, what if the govt becomes oppressive. Don't Iraqis have the right to take up arms against their oppressive government? Otherwise, how will they prevent a dictator from taking over?

A certain set of DU'ers seem to think the 2nd Amendment is the only important bit of the Constitution.

Where are they?

19. Saw a clip of Richard Clarke the other morning
on Democracy Now; he was speaking in New York. He claims that Fallujah is now flattened, left in ruins. A city of 300,000 is no more.

1-2-3 What are we fightin' for? Who cares, I don't give a damn, next stop is Vietnam -- er Basra.
