Sean Hannity inks 25M radio contract
ABC Radio has locked in its crown jewel. Looking to protect its turf against fast-rising challenger Fox News, radio syndication giant ABC has quietly signed conservative talk show host Sean Hannity to a new contract.
That will keep him talking for ABC for the next five years, sources told the Daily News.

Hannity - the second most popular talk show host on the radio behind Rush Limbaugh, according to Talkers magazine - is getting about $25 million over five years, sources said.

Syndicated radio leader ABC inked the Hannity contract several months ago but has kept the deal hush-hush. ABC faces a big threat from Fox News, which is capitalizing on its cable TV dominance to expand on the radio.

38. That either of these nitwits earns six figures is unbelievable.
They are both draft dodgers, qualified for nothing but spewing hate. Honest, hard-working men supporting families can't even make a decent living and these turds are paid for what they do. Life ain't fair, is it?

19. you're kidding, right?
He is excellent at what he does.

He controls the conversation - he knows exactly when to start talking over his guests.

He knows the issues of his listeners.

He always has a meaningless issue where he can claim to disagree with Rove's talking points - he can then claim to be impartial.

He knows exactly how to turn his audience against a guest.

His faithful love him.

His goal is not to offer balanced debate.

His goal is not to offer the opposing viewpoints.

His goal is simple - push the Rove agenda.

You'll never convince me that he and Limbaugh have not had a significant impact on the past two presidential elections.

We, on the left, have a LOT to learn about talk-radio. We can't discredit this as*-**le just because we don't like his message.

33. he doesn't have to -
his listeners don't care. His message - regardless of how carelessly crafted, makes sense to them.

All he has to do is attract listeners. He gets paid by market share - not that he makes any sense.

His listeners love him. They admire him. They understand him. And better yet, he understands them.

The past presidential election doesn't present any message as to the candidates. It only reflects the voters.

And that is a sad state of affairs.

5. most of their listeners are struggling financially also
but since usually don't read and just hear what these right wing assholes say they are convinced their financial troubles are due to things like minorites and women getting special preference and taking away their jobs. or some other crap like big government liberals .

it's an ugly cycle. the wealthy use their money to convince them to vote in ways that are against their interests which and which really continue benefiting the wealthy.

9. Here read this and we will give you $5M a year
:eyes:

If anyone saw that display last night as he furthered the BS "won't let me teach the Declaration in school" last night you are better than me. Colmes just sat there (duh!) as Hannity had Stpehen Williams and some suit from the ADF on THEN he had on someone from "Atheists of Silicone Valley" as if anyone who knows what is going on an opposes that nutcase Williams must be an atheists.

Then he had on the anti-"under God" guy on with the honorable Ollie North to show him that it said "In GOD we Trust" on a dollar bill.

I taped the 2AM show and just FF through most of it this morning. I just wanted to see if it was as bad as I expected, it was worse.

Hannity works for ABC Radio, who's in competition with Fox News, who also employ Hannity.

If Hannity can make $5 million per year, what's money worth?

You take a drink every time he says "unbelievable" (pronounced more like "un-bleevable"). He says it every time he's describing some supposed librul transgression.

You'll be wasted in no time.

25. stern has $$$ overhead
The Sirius deal was $100 million per year for the Howard Stern SHOW, meaning Howard Stern covers his show overhead such as employees, rents, broadcasting, etc. Howard usually nets a couple of million off his show after expenses per year. THAT is a fact. It was part of his divorce papers made public.

Thanks ABC! Just one more reason not to listen/watch. At this rate, I'll be saving big dollars annually on cable TV and electricity (no radio, no TV). Now...to invest that savings into my own private retirement account. And it's all voluntary!

*sigh*

Anyone see the Daily Show Moments in Punditry last night? Children acting out a segment of Hannity/Colmes with Coulter on. Absolute hilarity, and in true fashion, all Colmes said was "We will be right back."

30. This is exactly why we cannot trust...
any of these radio and tv news wizards. And it is also why they are so much in support of the Republican agenda. They are among the most highly apid folks in America and with Bush's tax-cuts and deregulations they get to keep nearly all of it while we lower-paid folks pay for trash pickup and santitation and all the things that keep the cities livable.

Why in the hell WOULD they tel us the truth or do any in-depth reporting? It would only hurt THEM personally.

34. Hannity contract
I watched last nights Hannity and Colmes debacle to see if there was some hope for these two and was unfortunately disappointed. It was a complete mockery. Not one person was allowed to give an opinion that was in anyway shape or form acknowledged or respected. It was immediately turn to shreds with over-talking and childish boorish behavior by Hannity and North.

North was in fact completely and totally asinine. How did this guy rise in rank and how on earth is he left unchallenged to use the service as leverage when he disgraced the uniform and can only walk around without having the label felon associated with his name because of a presidential pardon.

Hannity is a complete and absolute moron. Does anyone have a link to a site that shows where he has been taken down a peg or two?

That the right wing has Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity as their number one and two in the nation.
Has anyone ever heard the comments about these two from other sources from more dignified audiences with the same political feelings? Sad that our politics has gone these far down.
