Pickering to Step Down From U.S. Appeals Court
IN BRIEF / MISSISSIPPI
Pickering to Step Down From U.S. Appeals Court

From Times Wire Reports

Federal judge Charles Pickering, appointed by President Bush less than a year ago without congressional approval, said in Jackson that he would step down from the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Bush elevated Pickering, 67, with a recess appointment in January, which temporarily sidestepped the confirmation process. Some Democrats accused Pickering of being racially insensitive and harboring antiabortion views.

1. Hmm, maybe a few DNA tests came back with a match?
and maybe the matching reason is not very popular with his views?

(read: racist)

3. He Got the Title and the Pension Boost
Why stick around now? He doesn't want the work, and we certainly don't want him to do it!

5. Exactly!
now he can retire and go hunting with Scalia, Cheney et al and not worry about it looking like he plays favorites! (like he worried before)

Pension & title is all he cared about.

4. understatement of the year
"racially insensitive" ?

Racially insensitive is not remembering to acknowledge Kwanzaa.

Referring to crossburnings as "pranks" and calling the one person/one vote concept "obtrusive" is being a racist bigot.
