Presidential candidates David Cobb, of the Green Party, and Michael
Badnarik, of the Libertarian Party, have requested a recount of Ohio's
presidential votes.

They have paid the Ross County Board of Elections $760, or $10 for
every precinct, which is required by state law for a hand recount.

In response, the board has scheduled the recount to begin at 9 a.m.
Tuesday. Director Nancy Bell said a recount will not be completed in
one day. At the very minimum, she said, it will take three days.

The public is not permitted to be present at the recount, but a
representative of every candidate is allowed to be there, as well as
attorneys representing all candidates. There were 10 presidential
tickets on Ohio's ballot.

"I'm just really thoroughly disgusted with the whole thing," Bell
said.

12. Don't know, the statement that she made about their honesty and

integrity being questioned is probably a valid feeling. There is no possible way that election officials in all 88 counties could have been involved in a massive fraud, there would be no way to conceal that for very long. The fraud went on behind them, probably in the tabulators - so I can see why they would think they did a good job and would resent it being questioned.

I'm not sure how I would feel if someone came into my office and stole something off my desk. Or worse, someone else had to tell me it had been stolen. I'm more pissed at the tone of the article which the writer chose. "last ditch effort" and all that. Of course a quote like she made is going to go in there, it underlines the points the author was already trying to make.

14. If it only takes THREE days to HAND-recount Ohio

Why not just PLAN for a HAND count in EVERY state right off the bat.. That way a pair of HUMAN eyes would look at every ballot, and whoever emerged victorious, would be the winner..

It would save money in the long run.. I would rather see money directed to REAL PEOPLE who may even be unemployed.. Give THEM some wages for a few weeks at election time..

Do the whole thing AT the precinct level with video cameras.. Video cameras record everything at a 7-11..Are THEIR tranactions more important than knowing who the REAL senator, congressperson, and president is/are??

Gee whiz Ms Bell, I'm sorry your nose is out of joint because citizens elect to exercise their rights under the laws of your state. Especially for a public official, possibly you're too easily disgusted? Most of us plain folk voters applaud efforts by our fellows to make sure the system is honest and working properly. God forbid the people's real choice isn't elected because of clerical errors or computer glitches.

I would hope that you have a little disgust left over for the appalling casualty statistics coming out of Iraq and our government's apparent unwillingness to spend the money to make sure they're properly equipped.
