EPA Relying on Industry for Water Safety (just like the FDA and Vioxx)
WASHINGTON - The Environmental Protection Agency (news - web sites) issued new voluntary guidelines Thursday that rely on industry to secure drinking water and wastewater treatment plants against attack.

The guidelines for improving designs and operations were written by industry groups with EPA financing. The guidance urges improved water security designs and operations, and greater use of online monitoring to protect against the potential misuse of contaminants.

Benjamin Grumbles, the agency's top official for water issues, said "Americans should feel confident, when they turn on the tap, they have access to some of the cleanest, safest water in the world."

2. Poppy's the Carlyle Group must have a hand in bottled water ...
Water 'very big priority.' Having long expressed reservations about U.S. bottled water business, DPSU is now set to dive in with Deja Blue. Brand belongs to Dr Pepper/Seven Up Bottling Group (DPSUBG), owned by Cadbury, Carlyle Group and CEO Jim Turner. DPSU has royalty-free license in non-DPSUBG territories.

3. any time one relies on industry to safeguard anything, there will
only be trouble. Industry won't do it. It has been proven time and time again. There is always some greedy bastard that will want to cut corners, that will lie, etc. Only when the government steps in and monitors and fines industry, does industry safeguard anything. This will be another Bush disaster

5. Bottled water for us also
Admission of violations are voluntary according to the Bush regime. Don't report, and don't worry about it.

I imagine the WH is fully stocked with bottled water for the first family. The rest can partake from the drinking fountains. The peasants in DC depending on water utilities, can well die for all Bushco cares.
