Ashcroft Praises Anti-Terrorism Efforts
WASHINGTON -- Attorney General John Ashcroft on Friday praised Justice employees for success in deterring terrorists but warned that al-Qaida "has not lost its thirst for American blood."

Ashcroft said the "sacrifice and courage" of the Justice Department's employees worldwide is a main reason terrorists have not struck inside the United States in nearly three years and violent crime has dropped to 30-year lows.

"Our journey has been one of sacrifice and courage and triumph against long odds," the attorney general said.

During his tenure, Ashcroft has endured withering criticism from political opponents and a wide range of outside advocacy groups for his policies on the death penalty, civil liberties, gun laws, abortion and other issues. In his introduction of Ashcroft, Deputy Attorney General James Comey alluded to those controversies in quoting a famous Theodore Roosevelt speech from 1910.

"'It is not the critic who counts,'" Comey quoted. "'The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood.'"

8. In Ashcroft's world, I am a terrorist.
Anyone who questions "authority", who believes in something greater than his fundie mind conceives,...is a terrorist.

Anyone who believes that humanity was graced with the capacity to create a better world,...terrorizes "God as Creator" in Ashcroft's world. As if humanity could somehow steal God's power. How sick is that?

Ashcroft deserved the impunity he received since it was all he ever delivered. He is a power-freak,...just like all those to whom he is attracted,...and with whom this administration hangs.

But I thought that "the objective of securing Americans from terror" has been achieved? Oh man, another lie?

Why is it that Americans can get so worked up if a foreign entity barged in to America and set up shop and started imposing all their believes on us but they just cannot understand how it's possible that the Middle Eastern world could feel the same way? Instead we get "thirst of blood"? Can you say "Drama Queen"?
