WP/AP: Moore Campaigns for People's Choice Award
Moore Campaigns for People's Choice Award
The Associated Press
Saturday, December 11, 2004

LOS ANGELES - Filmmaker Michael Moore is back on the campaign trail trolling for votes - this time, for the People's Choice Awards.

His documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" - an unlikely summer blockbuster - was one of the films selected in the "favorite movie" category of the annual populist prize ceremony. On Thursday he posted a letter on his Web site to mobilize fans to cast their ballots for the film.

"Now, normally I wouldn't make a very big deal out of something like this," Moore wrote. He said he was inspired to make his appeal after a group of leading Republicans took out ads in USA Today and Daily Variety that he said included "a not-so-subtle threat to the Academy Awards voters that, in essence, said don't even THINK about nominating 'Fahrenheit 9/11' for Best Picture."

Moore said the People's Choice nomination proves the message of his film still resonates with people across the country, even though President Bush won re-election....

1. Sorry, Mike
Liked your movie, but your abandonment of principle in the past election has left me feeling some antipathy toward you. Next time, don't make anti-war statements and yet support pro-war candidates.

3. Whoa ....
Michael Moore abandoned Ralph Nader and at first supported Wesley Clark, and then supported John Kerry. He worked tirelessly in the swing states to oust Bush.

Sure Mike is a media whore, but this time it was for a good cause. Don't be so quick to choose up sides and isolate the various factions of those left of the Republicans. We are in this together and we better come to grips with that fact.

Hell yes I voted in the dumbass People's Choice Awards. Why? Because the righties expect Mike to win and I, for one, surly don't want to let them down. They must be reminded that we continue to support the anti-Bush sentiment of F-9/11. I will not be brow-beaten by them, and if Moore is abandoned by the left, that is precisely what they will be doing.

Do what you want, but at least acknowledge the efforts Moore has made to overthrow Bush. He gets a high-five from me.
