Contract killers in Iraq

Contract killers are being offered as little as $US50 ($67) to hunt down coalition troops - including Australians - in Iraq.

The mercenaries are being wooed from poor neighbouring countries in the Middle East with the promise of cash payments for every Western soldier killed.

Air Commodore Greg Evans, who took command of Australian forces in the Middle East three weeks ago, told Sydney newspaper The Sunday Telegraph that Iraqi insurgents were turning to hired assassins to do their dirty work.

"This is a difficult adversary. The insurgency is not a coherent force," Air Commodore Evans told the newspaper.

"We are seeing zealots brought in from outside Iraq and paid $US50 for contract killings. These forces are a general threat to the coalition."

might be fighting back against the occupation.

I don't doubt that there might be some who are in it for the BIG bucks ($67) if they're starving, but everytime I see something like this it just makes me think that whoever is running this show has the mentality of a five year old.

It's always people "from another country" who're trying to kill US troops -- who're ALSO "from another country." It boggles the mind that people swallow this crap. Since the US pays up to $120,000/yr for their mercenaries, I guess the "free market" is evil in this case.

Just 100 dollars or so for a head, better than the millions of dollars that we spend on our mercs. Maybe it would save us a buck or two.

That was actually my idea of how we should have delat with Saddam. We didn't need to go to a full out war! Pay a couple of mercenaries to do the job. Quick, quiet, and over!!!!

Its mercs, glorified contract killers, on the same level as every other contract killer out there. There is no quantative difference between these fuckers and mob hitmen, just different sources of income. Even Serial Killers, who usually have some type of illness to explain away their killings, aren't as low as these pond scum, American employed or otherwise.
