Saddam Aides Refusing Food, U.S. Military Says
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Several of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s jailed deputies have been refusing food but Saddam himself is not on hunger strike on the eve of the first anniversary of his capture, an officer in charge of detainees said on Sunday.

"It appears that some of the other 11 high-value detainees have been rejecting food, although they continue to snack and to take on liquids," Lieutenant Colonel Barry Johnson, deputy director of detainee operations in Baghdad, told Reuters.

"We're trying to ascertain who is turning their food back and why," he said.

Johnson said those who had rejected food began doing so on Saturday, but some had also eaten on Sunday morning.

3. Saddam was a cia agent.....
he did the west's bidding until...well the truth is beyond explaining to a grumpy lil fellow like you. Saddam was probably the best administrator (you can say what you like about the intelligence guys, but when Saddam ran Iraq, even after the '80 war, all the parts fit together) the western powers could want in the middle of most dangerous place on earth, the greater ME...that is until the israelis and xian/neocon loonies thought armageddon might be a good idea....Saddam Hussein was actually a very good tyrant, as far as tyrants go, and just the fact that the lying pigs at cnn/fox/cbs/nbc/pbs/cbc/bbc/reuters/ap/msnbc/nytimes/washpost/latimes/new republic mag and all the rest of the mediawhores keep insisting Saddam was a 'very bad man' says clearly he is like Castro or like Chavez; more devoted to their country's wellbeing then to the greedy corpses (multinat corporation) who have meanwhile literally raped the USA (see enron, or the SocSec plot!)

7. Afraid of being poisoned, probably
Rumors about Arafat and now Yushchenko have now made political prisoners suspicious. Of course poisoning is true when it is useful for western propaganda (Yushchenko) and false when it is harmful for western propaganda (Arafat). This is a similar process to the fact that vote fraud is proven by very same thing in the Ukraine that only proves unreliable exit polling in the U.S.

I don't know why Saddam wouldn't be suspicious, though.
